More frivolous purchases, stuff you don't need..
Discussion
The covers:

The lamps and stuff:

US site as I CBA to find the UK ones, but it serves the purpose. I didn't like the look of the one for the S3 and it would have meant not using a case, so I didn't bother.

In a similar vein, we popped in to IKEA the other day and saw their wireless charging jackets that go with their lamps and stuff. I liked the idea, but didn't fancy the extra bulk.
Has anyone plumped for their wireless offering?
"Wireless charging jackets that go with their lamps and stuff" ? Come again. Has anyone plumped for their wireless offering?

Which is entirely frivolous because I have nowhere to put it, so it'll probably stay in its box alongside Ecto1 and the BTTF DeLorean.
And this:
Which is entirely frivolous as I already have a 18v Ryobi impact wrench. The new one is up to 400nm though, my old one was 250nm or so - that's my justification.

I bought this whilst at a motorcycle show yesterday - only just noticed the spelling mistake on the Rothmans logo across the front so now extremely pissed off.
Now I have got it home I am not sure where or when I will wear it.
I would be happy to move it on if anyone wants it.....

Ive decided i want an impact wrench, i want a mains powered one though, battery tools always end up with a flat battery in my ownership.Which is entirely frivolous as I already have a 18v Ryobi impact wrench. The new one is up to 400nm though, my old one was 250nm or so - that's my justification.
Its just hard to justify right now considering ive mostly got house-DIY on the list for the next few months, so buying a car specific tool is kinda.. frivolous?

I have one of theses: https://www.amazon.co.uk/DeWalt-Lithium-Ion-Brushl...Its just hard to justify right now considering ive mostly got house-DIY on the list for the next few months, so buying a car specific tool is kinda.. frivolous?
(available much cheaper if you search)
Makes a reasonable car tool with these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Faithfull-SBSOCDRIV-Squar...
Not as powerful as a dedicated auto-impact driver but pretty good.
Excellent around the house
Batteries charge quickly and stay charged so you may not need mains
I'm sure that Makita/other makes are just as good

Li-ion batteries might be interesting.. although 170nm doesnt sound like a lot of torque, id want one for stuck suspension bolts and the like, so 300-400 might be in order, which is pretty doable with a corded one.(available much cheaper if you search)

The last battery powered tool i had was a 12v screwdriver, both batteries (i think NiCd) went dead after a winter of being in a cold shed... After which i bought a corded replacement, which was pretty handy when i built a small woodframe/plasterboard wall, did hundreds of screws in a day.

Are you sure it's a spelling mistake, and not where the left leg of the M goes where the zip is?Now I have got it home I am not sure where or when I will wear it.

950nm? https://www.amazon.co.uk/DeWalt-DCF899HN-XJ-Cordle...The last battery powered tool i had was a 12v screwdriver, both batteries (i think NiCd) went dead after a winter of being in a cold shed... Li-ions dont seem to lose their charge like nicads and charge in about 20 mins (a guess, I've never timed them)
Of course this one isn't much use around the house
The one I mention previously is useful on the car. It's quite small and gets into tight spaces, saving spanner work.

Oooh, 950nm, that is NICE. a bit pricey though..Li-ions dont seem to lose their charge like nicads and charge in about 20 mins (a guess, I've never timed them)

Honestly i dont mind a corded one, but if a li-ion can deliver the same torque at not much price increase it will definitely be on the list!
