How does it find the golf balls better than an ordinary torch?
You don't need that, you need the unloseable golf ball:

Old Joke said:
A golfer, playing a round by himself, is about to tee off, and a greasy little salesman runs up to him, and yells, "Wait! Before you tee off, I have something really amazing to show you!"

The golfer, annoyed, says, "What is it?"

"It's a special golf ball," says the salesman. "You can never lose it!"

"Whattaya mean," scoffs the golfer, "you can never lose it? What if you hit it into the water?"

"No problem," says the salesman. "It floats, and it detects where the shore is, and spins towards it."

"Well, what if you hit it into the woods?"

"Easy," says the salesman. "It emits a beeping sound, and you can find it with your eyes closed."

"Okay," says the golfer, impressed. "But what if your round goes late and it gets dark?"

"No problem, sir, this golf ball glows in the dark! I'm telling you, you can never lose this golf ball!"

The golfer buys it at once. "Just one question," he says to the salesman. "Where did you get it?"

"I found it."

I'm guessing it's an LED blacklight torch. Sounds like utter tosh but had lots of good reviews. If it's kack, I'll send it back.

I keep getting drawn to one of these:

Got absolutely no practical use for it!

Apparently they work really well - however only in the dark.

I get enough grief for the time I spend on the course as it is - without heading down there in the dark!

Do you have one of the phones on the compatibility list? If not, did you just 'take a chance' and if so what phone do you have?

Oh, some Olympic-standard frivolity has occurred this weekend, that's for sure biggrin

Following the purchase of my Real FX racing set yesterday, today a friend and I drove halfway across the country to collect his frivolous purchase, thus - a hot exhaust nozzle from a Royal Navy Sea Harrier. Even better, it's been used in service and the inside is still coated in a thick black coating of spent jet fuel exhaust. It smells amazing cloud9

Somebody stop me!!! biggrinbiggrin
Cool, ebay, do you have a link to the seller? Clearly i need one.

I saw that for sale at Kempton Park market a few months ago, or at least one very similar. The price was pretty eye-watering as I recall. I wasn't keen on the fact that it had been polished to a mirror finish and the squab trimmed in brand new leather - it had lost any age or patina, and could have been brand new.

Edit:
I just found a photo I took at the time, and it is not the same one. In fact, it is very different indeed.

A nice carbon extension boom for my go pro gimbal!

Didn't really need it, just fancied it!

Mmmmm, Carbon!

Oh and a little remote control too, as it's several feet away from me now too.,

Which gimbal do you use, and is it any good? We've just been gifted a GoPro, and I've been looking at the G4 for it.
Need to swat up on how best to use the GoPro's, quite happy with an SLR and a drone, but know nothing about video!

If you ever do any trackdays, they can be useful for checking the tyre temp across the tyre - hot in the middle and colder at the sides is an indicator of too high a tyre pressure I believe. Hot at the sides with a cooler bit in the middle of the tread indicates under-inflation.

Of course, if you don't do any trackdays, you've still not got any practical use for it! smile

ETA - ...but isn't that the point of this thread??

BTW - just ordered a 2nd Real FX set. Argos price has gone up to £60, but it's now available on Amazon (Prime) for £35.
Still haven't opened the 1st one yet. Wife's not going to be that impressed... smile

That would actually be pretty handy for finding the dog after he's disappeared in the park chasing a squirrel on a winters evening.

I had one for work a few years ago to check that nothing was on fire after we finished burning up old brewing vessels. I took it home a few times to piss about with. At the time it cost the company £2k.

Finally ordered one of those realfx sets then remembered I had one in the loft from the original kickstarter. oops.
Got it for the boy for xmas one year then decided it was too complex at his age and put it away.

Guess what he's getting this year!

You could train the dog to use it so he can find squirrels in the dark.
