Finally ordered one of those realfx sets then remembered I had one in the loft from the original kickstarter. oops.
Got it for the boy for xmas one year then decided it was too complex at his age and put it away.

Guess what he's getting this year!
A pony!
scratchchin A monkey!

Or a tangerine, a walnut and a shiny new penny?

Is there a prize? smile

How does it find the golf balls better than an ordinary torch?
I'm guessing it's an LED blacklight torch. Sounds like utter tosh but had lots of good reviews. If it's kack, I'll send it back.
Apparently they work really well - however only in the dark.

I get enough grief for the time I spend on the course as it is - without heading down there in the dark!
I tried it out last night while walking the dog. The light is very dim until you find a ball which lights up like fluorescent under uv.

Tom spotted this whilst we were at Bricklive at the NEC today.

Mrs P won't be impressed, that we will have framed Lego characters on the wall as well as all over the floors as well!

Pah. I have been putting together a Star Wars one for a while.
Still have not decided on a background and whether to put another shelf in it.

That's great, but surely one of the Stormtroopers should be a little taller, or have a low doorway?

You can pick the frame up from Ikea for £8 and buy the minifigs off Bricklink

Could you post some info on the bits you used to make it?

Its a Ribba frame from Ikea. If im honest its probably a bit to large height wise, but you can choose the size you like.
http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/collections/ribba/

Its a deep frame so you can get a three stud deep lego piece in it for the shelves. I used 20 2x6 plates and 20 1x6 plates for each shelves with a few 1x3 plates at the end. Also 4 per shelf, clear 5 brick high clear pieces for support. You can buy these direct from Lego https://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Pick-a-Brick?icmp=SHHo...

you can order the minifigs though Bricklink https://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Pick-a-Brick?icmp=SHHo...
You need to watch the prices as some of the characters are rare so go for a premium.
Example is Captain Antilles, the guy in brown

Or sometime you can get a bargain buying a second hand battle pack on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_21?url...

I would hate to think what it costs in total, but I just spent £20 here, £20 there so didn't really notice it.

Fortunately my Star Wars collecting doesn't really extend to Lego or I'd be drowning in bricks I think. I keep seeing a lot of the figures in frames at Cons and always wonder why people buy them when the frame is cheap from Ikea and figures are pence from Aliexpress.

Anyway, this weekends frivolity. My lovey husband managed to order me one of the new Black Series TK Helmets from Asda when they were briefly in stock. It's not bad, I suspect kids will love it. It's next to my RS Props ESB helmet here so you can compare. (edited to add, Black Series is on the left)

If your just framing them, I'd head off to aliexpress and pay about 40p per character... You'd never tell the difference.

That would be too sensible though! biggrin

I shall bear it in mind however, if I decide to start putting whole walls of the things together... still have the itch for the Pulp Fiction one!

Well, he's nothing if not dedicated to the cause!

I like the pop-culture Lego myself, hence the BTTF one and having the DeLorean, ECTO-1 and Ghostbusters Firehouse, albeit boxed and unbuilt at the present. I think the BTTF, Pulp Fiction, Blues Brothers and maybe Ghostbusters mountings would be quite fun hallway or games room decorations.
