Yes, or you can use a separate outlet but would have to turn it off and on manually.

It is an LED light strip
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01M28RKH5/ref...

On checkout you get a 39% discount so cost just under £8.

It plugs in to the TV USB socket and comes on with the TV and goes off with the TV and I leave it on static (not flashing) purple/blue.

After just a few minutes of watching TV with the LED on, if you turn the LED off, it really makes the wall behind noticeably bland. It therefore started as a bit on the bling side but actually has improved the viewing.
Ordered, worth a go! I have a gaming set up in the spare room with a relatively large (49 inch) TV and having the lights off strains the eyes a bit and the sidelight in the room sits opposite the TV so reflects on to it. Worth a go!

If it's naff, ghetto cheap neons for the car coolhehe

There are loads of them for sale, not just that one. I'm sure there will be other deals.

Do you just have 1 strip fitted? A guy in my office thinks 1 strip wont be bright enough????? Can you notice it with the lights on?
Yep, just one strip.

With the light on it gives a subtle light, I can't explain it but it's just nice.

LED on and lights on,

LED off

Proof of one strip

If you like that and like doing DIY, I suggest you look at this:

And the good news is that it works

Yes i know its a boring thing to do as a first print but it shows that it works

I like those strips of LED's. Currently thinking how I could use a few 5m strips around the side "garden" (all paved) and garage. And maybe in a diffuser strip around the un-doored double doorway between the dining room and living room. And in the back of the car so the kids can have a disco while driving.

Anyone else had any clever ideas where/how to use such things?

i saw a video of someone getting some thin transparent strips and using them as grouting on floor tiles.. burying the LED strips below so you had tron like grid work on the ground.. it was in a bathroom

I've got the philips hue version of this on the downstairs TV, looks good and there is an app where if you face your phone to the TV it will change the colours to match the screen like the ambilight TV's that Philips make. (probably not far down on my frivolous list tbh) I thought this was a new thing but there was a TV made in the 50's with a light behind it to improve the shades on screen.

Anyway, this weeks purchase has been a 13" MacBook Pro with touch bar to replace my 2009 MBP that was slowing down. Touch bar was an extra £300. Worth it? Probably not, but there is a little squeal of joy inside me when I can fingerprint unlock it.
I've had a rough couple of weeks with the very sudden loss of my lovely Mum, so frivolous shopping has been a rather good distraction.

I have been looking but all the good ones are digustingly expensive.
