Can this be used as a security device, patrol rooms and feeding back images/videos of anything moving, basically like a security webcam?

Funny, we bought a Signature Pro the other week. It's literally the best gadget in the house, bloody love it.
Indeed, it's incredible how well it cleans. Now I just have to convince the OH that it's not after killing her. biggrin
How do they color with wood floors, and thresholds were it changes from carpet to wood or different rooms?

Essentially, if you have two young kids and never seen to be able to vacuum, could I just set it going when we all go out, and come back to a vacuumed house? (I assume a floor a day, they're probably rubbish at stairs, right?)

We have three different surfaces downstairs. Oak, carpet and a lino type in the kitchen and utility. There's small height changes, grippers, wooden ends etc and it navigates them no worries. Obviously it doesn't climb stairs but it does have a cliff sensor so it doesn't fall down them.

We have it scheduled for 10am and come back to a freshly hoovered house, it's ace. We have one child and three cats, it's scary the amount of pet hair it's still picking up from the carpet!

Previously we used our Dyson Animal once or twice a week for a full hoover as well as a hand held for spot cleaning. Haven't needed to use either since 'Sonny' started doing his rounds! (Our daughter named it!)

The Neato was recommended by a colleague as being a better and cheaper alternative to a Roomba. It's got a funky scanning algorithm for room coverage rather than running round bumping into things and just works. Total win.

I'd suggest giving it the once over with a 'proper' vacuum once a week to help it out. We've four cats and while the roomba does an excellent job, it can't entirely keep on top of it.

No issue with changing floor material, kitchen has laminate flooring while the lounge is carpet, with a brass strip to cover the ends. The botvac just goes over it without an issue. What I don't know is if it can negotiate hight differences, say if you had a tiled floor leading to hard wood one with a slight step between them. It has two "step" sensors in the front to prevent if from falling down the stairs, so I am not sure if it would kick in in this case.

Yes, you can schedule it to go around the house while you are away, this is what I've done; it's a joy to return to a freshly vacuumed flat after work. If you have children though, you have to make sure that they don't leave toys, clothes etc on the floor, and you should tidy up your cables (tv, charging and what have you), otherwise they might get tangled in the brush. Another reason to keep the house tidy I suppose. biggrin

who needs a steadycam? no-one, especially when my GoPro is too old to be compatible, so having put myself down for one of these will need to get a new GoPro too now...

Oh and because I'm nice (and I'm deflecting from all the other crap I've ordered) I bought the other half one of these:

Because everyone needs a credit card knife and at 39p shipped from Ali it was a steal. It's actually really bloody sharp, I was expecting a plastic blade but it is metal.

I've one of these as well and was blown away with the blade, paper thin but would slice anything you needed to cut, just not for heavy duty work.

Fairly sure the aliexpress version is a knock off (for 39p it has to be) but it does slice like er, a knife through butter. Ordered myself one now biggrin

In other frivolous news a few more bits toward my Tie project have arrived, this being my favourite....

It's currently getting a bit of a revamp, along with a Leia Sporting Blaster I've picked up. I'm currently making fluttery eyelashes at the other half for the BB droid biggrin

Not so much a purchase, but I've wanted one of these for ages.

Of course it wont replace the daily F-91w, but it's a new thing to wear on trackdays and other nerdy car stuff.
How did you manage to lay your hands on one?!? I was trying to find one on release, but rumour was they were limited to 100 units?
