My iPhone 5.

Oh, hang on, that lasted 7 months. As did the one before it and the one before that, too.

Most mowers these days are very shoddy, even expensive ride ons, rebranded Chinese tat, each year they become flimsier, with the exception of Ransomes branded kit.

Ransomes still sell proper old school metal jobs with greasable joints and bearings, they weigh a ton, cost three times their rivals price and are still better value.

I've always found Apple stuff to be pretty decent at lasting. My current iPhone 4S is 2 years old and going fine. Although all other Apple things I've had have broken due to being dropped so physically durable they are not.

Our kettle is about 15 years old, and still going strong.

Ten years ago, we moved house. We only moved a mile down the road, but that was enough to move us from Thames Water with some of the hardest water in the country to Sutton & East Surrey Water, who have water softeners in their processing plant which means our water is as soft as it's allowed to be by law when it comes out of the tap.

For the first few weeks in the house, the kettle actually defurred itself every time we used it until it settled down to its current level of furriness! hehe I suspect this bodes well for the dishwasher, washing machine and boiler.

Kettles are pretty crap generally, so my staff in a previous job bought the cheapest Tesco kettle with a 12 month guarantee. It got really heavy office use in a hard water area, but when it broke they just swapped it with another. Not built to last by any stretch, but the cumulative effect was lasting!

Wife has a Sony Trinitron 12" tv she got for her 12th or 13th birthday. It's in the loft now but still works fine and has a great picture. She's 52 now.
I've had mine (28" I think) for about 15yrs, remember the silver ones with glass shelves underneath? Faultess & still used every day.
Soft Northern water lets kettles last a long time....

Our last kettle lasted about 13 years and we are in a hard water area, regular desaling saved it I think. However we seem to have been really unlucky with microwaves and have got through about 3 (poss 4) in 15 years!

I still use a Compaq Ipaq daily for reading ebooks on in bed - it's 15 years old & works great.

Sony P10 camera I've had for 14 years & still works.

I've got a Dell laptop somewhere from about 2000/1 & apart from the screen hinges being broken, that still (sort of) works.

I have a hand-me-down "Brother" microwave that is almost 30 - it is about the size of a large television, it is fashionably dark brown, and now and gain it makes odd noises.
But it still works a treat!

I must be unlucky or very clumsy! I tried a Samsung and that was no better.

My wife also has an iPhone 4 and that has lasted well.... So prepared to admit that it is at least partly my fault wink

My mum and dad still have a 14" Panasonic CRT in their kitchen which must be 25+ years old now. I can remember plugging my Amiga into the same TV when I was a kid!

My Porsche Boxster is 13 years old. It's pretty much as good now as it was new. 38K miles. Very pleased with its longevity. I'll probably still be driving it in another ten years...

Just retired my original Russel Hobbs kettle after 43 years of reliable service (foot rivet broke). Bought a new kettle (Irish name but chinese made), returned it as the contacts were dicky (buzzing and sparking), new one lasted all of 10 months then blew. New one on guarantee which'll probably last another 6 months....

My paraffin blow lamp
Still works and with fore-sight bought a few leather pressure washers and wire prickers so should be good for another few years yet.
