Don't worry, you'll turn up on ebay...hehe

I was going to see if you wanted to sell the wardrobe.....but then saw you are in Germany!

No need for a safe.
It seems there are plenty of available 'hidey-holes'!

£5k of jewllery and no safe for storing it securely or adequate insurance? You're daft.
resurecting an old(ish) thread but.... safe is all well and good but loads of contents policies don't cover those sorts of high value items so at that point what do you do?

Yes they do. You add them as specified items giving an agreed value to them - usually needs backing up with a proper valuation certificate should you make a claim

Exactly. I have to have valuations of some of my, and my Wife's jewellery no older than 3 years old should I need to claim on my contents insurance for those items.

therein lies the rub - OP's jewelry was inherited and so one would imagine older than 3 years. Friend of mine has this issue inherited an item worth in excess of £10k - his current insurers declined to quote... too high value. Banks don't 'do' safety deposit boxes anymore

I don't think I was clear - the valuations have to be no more than three years old.
