I'm booked in to a hotel near Daventry of Saturday night. Staverton Park.

There's a good chance I will be knackered and just want my bed but on the off chance I'm up
for a night out, what's the place got to offer?

I'm not into clubbing etc but would prefer a nice meak and real ale type pubs.

There's a good scrap yard / recycling centre there if you need any parts for your car. I can't help from a night out point of view though.

Bugger all in daventry. You're a little out the way at staverton anyway. The Pytchely at west Haddon (just the other side of the a5 from daventry) is nice, good steaks.

You're on the way to Leamington, kind of, at staverton so might be worth a ride out there, lot more trendy bars and eateries.

There really isn't much in daventry itself!

Edit, the crossroads in weedon (hehe) is nice.

Plenty of good pubs around there. The pub in Staverton itself - the Countryman isnt too bad. A bit 'gastro pub' and a little on the expensive side (not that it stops me going). If you want something interesting go down to the Folly in Napton - 10 min drive. The landlord in there is something else, and the food is great. A real old world pub. Go further afield and there are 2 decent pubs in Long Itchington, but considering what is closer I wouldnt bother. If its 9pm before you get in the Countryman is fine, if its 6pm when you get back make the effort and go to the Folly. You WILL need a good map or sat nav though. There is a reason that area is called the Bermuda Triangle. hehe

Daventry is a sthole, avoid! Staverton Park is not far from Napton - The King's Head on the main road through is a good eatery and serve plenty of ales. Probably a £10 taxi ride to your hotel if you're feeling like having more than just a few pints.

Cross Roads in Weedon as mentioned above is a good shout, about 10 mins away and the chances of getting mugged are far lower.

A group of us from PH had an awful meal there in April - we'd even pre-booked it!

Go to Napton, far better smile

There's also the Narrow Boat just outside Weedon. Been there a few times. Consistently good food.

To be fair, I went there for a few beers the night before my wedding at Dodmoor a House so my memory might be tinged...

Shoulder of Mutton at Grandborough is only 4 miles away and is my local. It has a good conservatory restaurant and excellent real ales. There's live music this Saturday too - I'll be there probably.

Countryman at Staverton is a good shout too, if you want a traditional pub and good food.

Edit to add: Keep away from Dav... frown

I'd go to the Narrowboat over the Crossroads.

Countryman at Staverton was pretty average for the money TBH.

Daventry is a typical market town - if you want a pint and a fight you can find it, although can't say I've ever had any issues (not that frequent any pubs in the town).
