It was my mate, him and his OH in the back, she was fine but he didn't have a seatbelt on.

I was 17 and had passed my test 4 days prior.

No stupid driving involved just two people going across an unmarked crossroads without knowing it was there at midnight with no street lighting.

An ex colleague was involved in the death of his then girlfriend in a car accident; he let her drive the car, she didn't have a licence and was under age, there was a crash which she caused, she died and he was held partially responsible.

He wasn't imprisoned but was banned and fined.

A guy I used to hang around with when younger beat up a man and killed a man.

My 16yo daughter was in the same class as a guy who was convicted of murder last year; he killed his abusive stepdad, with his older brother; they knifed him whilst he was alseep.

Stepdad abused and beat up his mum on a regular basis, the problem for them is they killed him whilst he was out sparko from drink, on the sofa so it was deemed premeditated, if they had killed him whilst he was beating the mum up then there would have been mitigating circumstances and they would have most likely got off or a much lighter conviction, as it happens he was convicted of murder.

It was in the press.

Me, no, but I have met two people who have murdered someone.

First an English guy in the Philippines, who whacked a German guy over the head with a bar stool in a stupid argument.

Second a woman in China who stabbed her husband to death with a kitchen knife in the car. However, she had suffered long term domestic violence, having several hues of - beaten out her on a regular basis. Common sense prevailed and she got seven years, instead of the usual bullet reserved for the back of the head.

Killed, many in car accidents, I will not go into details as relatives may read PH.

Except for these two, which stand out, and are worth including.

First, was a taxi driver, a drunk stepped in front of his cab. Driver was a jaunty, happy go lucky chap, nothing fazed him. However, those close to him, said “he was gutted to the core”

Second, is someone in my family, who has caused two fatal accidents, but is still on the road (not in the UK) family paid compo and carried on as normal, only comment “that was expensive” makes me sick, I have nothing to do with the piece of - !

They have been down in the cellar for about a month now with no food or water so it should not be long now.
A month without water? I think it's time to back the car up.
Sure is. They reckon 5 weeks without food, 5 days without water, 5 minutes without air (all approx).

I only found out a few years back, (and I'm in my 40's) that my Nans brother killed someone in the 1930s/40's when he was on board a ship with the merchant navy bound for the U.S. Was self-defence apparently and as it happened at sea, was just returned to Britain.
He seemed to be a of a hard nut as well, as he was into bare knuckle fights at the fairs as well!
Livened up the family tree a little!

A previous plumber I used before. Used to follow him around the house getting tips and stuff when I was a newbie to house refurbishment - obviously quite new to plumbing himseld. I've never asked someone this before, but there was something about the tattoos and his mannerisms, so asked if he was ex-military and was quite surprised by his answer. He was in the para-military in South Africa and had killed people. "Sorry, don't want to talk about it". Got him back for one more job, but he seemed a bit peeved off with me about something and didn't get any more quotes off him. Nice guy though.

Also a tad worrying that the thread above this is "Show us your knives".

Kind of the opposite, but still relevant. A cousin of mine was murdered in pretty gruesome circumstances.

A girl I knew at school was murdered by her father. I'd only met him once though so I didn't really know him.

I haven't caused any deaths to the best of my knowledge

No but my elder brother shared a dorm with Jeremy Bamber at school - was a thoroughly nasty piece of work by all accounts.

Never murdered anyone thank god. But I somewhere have a very old photo of my school year. I think we're around twelve or thirteen. Among the 20 odd smiling faces in the photo, one was murdered by her jealous husband and hidden in a suitcase in the garage until police gained entry while he was in the pub and found her. Another ran a man down while speeding through a village and served time for killing him, another face in the pic was the passenger in that car, he killed himself about five years later. Two more faces in the photo got into a fight with each other just a few years ago and one died, the other is currently in prison. It seems if you were in my year at my school it's a pretty dangerous world out there. I'm only 35.
