Hi All,

Is Mrs Snowdrop_ and I's anniversary this weekend, so I am taking her away for the weekend.

We have never tried Jamie's Italian (Maybe shoot me now?) but what are peoples thoughts?

Cheers

Italian restaurant founded by Jamie Oliver, who's neither Italian or does any of the cooking.
I'll let you draw your own conclusions, but I guarantee the food will be half decent and you'll pay more than you would at a non-chain Italian.

Just my experience of the one at Nottingham anyway.

It's just a chain (albeit slightly more upmarket than average) of Italian restaurants. The food/atmosphere are OK for a quick meal, but probably not worth getting excited about for an anniversary unless you're on a budget.

+1

My Mrs likes Jamies Italian. I am not the biggest fan of Italian food, but as Dave 200 and another poster said the food will be good at an ok price for London.

This is one of my favourite "chains". The Turkey / Veal Escalope with Pollenta Chips.

mmmmmmm

Agree with this it's not special in an anniversary kind of way. Decent enough for a chain but treat her to a proper Italian cooked by Italians from Italy.

Cheers all smile

We have got a few other meals planned, Jamie's was just one we wanted to tick off the list - suppose it's all right though looking at what you've put!

We went to the one in Birmingham last year, extremely slow service followed by over priced food.

We tried the one in York. The food was average at best, the staff were elitist, we waited ages for everything and the price was more in line with a decent restaraunt, not an ordinary chain.

Other than that, I hope you both enjoy it biggrin

Where are you going?

Never been overly impressed by Jamies. The food has at best been ok but never better than that.

Strange, York is our nearest one and we have been on several occasions and its been OK. Agree with those above, its not a place I would choose for a romantic anniversary dinner, but for a family lunch or dinner, its always been OK, kids (4 and 8) both enjoy it, staff are always friendly and efficient, prices average.

From my experience of a couple of different ones (Reading and Bristol), they are at most a 5/10 - nothing special and really not worth the money you pay. Whenever we've gone, lunch has always become £50+ and it's never felt like money well spent.

Personally, for a special occasion, I wouldn't. In fact, for lunch, we no longer go either.

It would be the Piccadilly one, it wasn't for our main anniversary meal however.

Now I put this thread up, made re-think either way lol

I've been to two (Leeds & York) and I wouldn't recommend them to be honest - you can get much better at a 'proper Italian'.

Over priced and poor portion sizes if you ask me.

Went to the Cambridge one a while back, it was OK but you're far better off going to a decent Italian.

Wouldn't bother going back.

It's nothing more than a Wacaha or Nando's with a celebrity name attached.

A handy place to eat if you're out and about, but not a veune for a celebration.

I like them, been to about 4-5 different branches too!

Don't expect gourmet chef food, but better than the other Italian chains (mainly as its not just pizza and pasta)

I really like them, I like the atmosphere (Greenwich, Canary Wharf), the food is good a little better than Zizzi and Prezzo but not massively!

I would recommend them! Regarding price, I think its fairly priced!

Decided to cancel the table, thanks for the input guys!

Booked into a proper italian which has some raving reviews on TA.
