Japanese Land Cruisers used by the British Army in WW2. That's brilliant.

I was in a crack commando unit.

In 1972,I was sent to prison by a military court for a crime I didn't commit.I promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground.Today, still wanted by the government I survive as a soldier of fortune.

Don't mess with me.loser
I've got a bit of a problem that nobody has been able to help with. Where can I find you?
Got your pm Countdown.

I unfortunately can't help with those sort of "problems".I do know there are specialist clinics or you could try giving it a good scrub with bleach and a course of penicillin. You will probably be as good as new in a couple of weeks.

When i was working for a large privatised Telecoms company, One of the engineers was in the TA. In Aug 1990 he went off for a few weeks 'training execises'.
Came back with one or two stories, one of which i doubted, but seemed 'plausible' as you say Walt style, and several years later, on here actually, was put right by someone confirming the TA do play at special ops.
How is Bear Grylls these days?

Are you sure that will stop it growing? I'm struggling to find underpants robust enough to handle it.......

Richer than most of us, trading on an invented career despite having the similar operational experience of most of us. i.e none!

Reminds me of when my girlfriend caught a bullstter out in a pub in Norfolk once, a while ago.

I moved up there for a couple of years around 2005, and as someone who is a wee bit anoraky about aircraft, I fairly quickly learned about 'what was what' at all the nearby airbases....and my G/F, also being savvy and a petrolhead, also picked up similar info.

I was in a pub, and I had gone off for a wee - and when I came back to the bar, I found some bloke chatting to my girlfriend. Being the non-jealous type, and actually kinda enjoying the fact that blokes sometimes try to chat up my girlfriends (if they were pigs then no-one would bother, right?!) I just slotted myself in behind, and earwigged the conversation.

Oh, he was the nuts he was - huge, impressive military aircraft career, veteran of many skirmishes. My G/F pretended to look well impressed, as he span his clearly well-rehearsed lines. My G/F eventually asked him which aircraft he flew, out of which airbase. He grinned and said 'oh, F-16's, out of Marham airbase...'

Hopefully you might be able to picture his face, when my G/F coolly said 'hmmm, that's funny, the F-16 is an American aircraft, but Marham is a British RAF base, with Tornado aircraft....are you sure you're not mistaken there?'

I spat my beer out in a huge spray, and matey mumbled something before turning round and disappearing sharpish... rofl

Gotta love a Walt!

I can understand why someone would pretend to be in the services.
I can't. The people I knew from school that joined the army were those who were too stupid for anything else. I suppose you're better off sending your pawns into battle than your king.

And that's the only reason why they join is it?

My uncle (ex-REME) serviced the Toyota Landcruisers used by the LRDG (predecessors to the SAS). He saw some awful things which he keeps telling us that he doesnt like to talk about.
The LRDG was disbanded in 1945, 6 years before the Landcruiser first appeared. Maybe Chevy 30cwt trucks?
The LRDG were given pre-production models of the Landcruiser. AIUI they gave Toyota a lot of in-service feedback about how well the Landcruisers performed in North Africa. That's why landcruisers are still so reliable nowadays and why the SAS use them so much.
So the Japanese gave the British Army their motors during WW2.

Ok.
They had a few Q7's X5's and G-wagens too.

I can't help but think that's designed to get a response, someone who's been around for a few years would know a statement like that would go down like a lead balloon hehe

On a vaguely related note, being a double amputee I get asked all the time if I'm ex army. I suppose it'd be pretty easy for me to pretend I was if I wanted to, although I have no idea why I would want to. I really have no clue why someone would pretend to be anything, much least something that makes you look like such a wally when you get found out!

Yeah what a massive loser! Fancy only being TA SAS, which is more than most of the people on here could ever hope to achieve.

Interesting.

I saw an article about some woman complaining that ex forces personal get preferential treatment, wether it be better legs or less waiting time, than other civvie amputees.
I'm assuming if they are ex forces then the chance of them losing their limb(s) whilst in combat rather than in an office is pretty high.

What's your view on that?

I am well aware that he passed SAS (R) Selection and served for a short period of time. I am also aware that of his operational experience and why he left, which is different from what is implied.

Using the fact he has served and embelishing the truth to make some money is no better than someone who has never served claiming they have.

I once also spent some time with his survival advisor, apparently Teddy is a nice bloke in person.
