Well, having recently turned 60, I can honestly say I'm not all that grumpy. In fact, I've lived so far with the belief that the one who loses his rag is the one who's losing the battle.
That said, little things make me shake.my head in disbelief. The latest? Showing a toddler kicking the tail end of a Ford C-Max in an ad extolling it's hands - free tailgate. Let's just say that if the little ste kicked my new car, a stuffed toy orang utan would be the last thing he would get.

(Definitely aimed at you specifically - and also aimed at everyone with this type of attitude).

You need to relax... seriously - relax - and calm down.

If half the things you're complaining about are true and rile so much, you aren't going to make 60.

Bring on a stroke or heart attack and then see how your attitude changes?

There are only two things wrong in your world - young people and old people - and you are both of them.

Forget the young idiots - they just haven't got old yet People get old and the world overtakes them.

You think "I have enough st of my own to deal with without solving the worlds problems" you don't, really you don't, and if you really do think 'you have enough st to deal with' maybe you could get someone to break both your legs and then see how much st you have to deal with when meeting a few more of the people in this world with your attitude.

I'm fking sick of reading crap like this on PH - you do not have enough st to deal with apart from an expensive car and an alleged 'mid-life-crisis'.

FFS - look around you and make a considered conscious decision as to whether you really are that hard done by, and mayne, just maybe you might consider if you can give all the other people that occupy this planet a bit of a break too. Maybe even help them out a bit too.

Going to be 49 on Monday and still a pretty chipper chap. What I find helps is to spend time on your own, just by yourself.

A quiet pint in a corner of the pub, reading a proper paper. Sod off fishing or sailing, if it's crap there's no one to moan at as it's just you, the wind or the weather.

What really get's my goat are those people who are all pumped-up with the joy of life, who try to motivate you. I was once playing a knockabout game of volleyball with some mates when we were joined by an American racing yacht skipper. Hand clapping, whoops and fist-bumps lasted about 5 minutes, 'till we tossed the ball to him and buggered off to the pub, leaving him on his tod holding his precious fking GO! GO! GO! ball. tt.

I'm 28 and disappearing into a furious existence punctuated by high blood pressure, barely concealed hatred and extremely creative swearwords (chufftrumpet was a highlight last week).

Setting up a twitter account purely for office induced ranting is extremely cathartic, that's all I'll say.

I'm headed to an early grave, particularly if I hear the resident sthouse at work say 'pacific' or 'pacifically' one more time.

You have to learn to embrace it - I love a good ranty moan at the TV of an evening.

It's just a phase: once you're past 50 you start to realise there's no point in getting mad since EVERYONE else is a fecking idiot and getting mad does nothing except raise your blood pressure all your waking life.

Instead you just back off and stay calm and enjoy life a bit more.

It's either that or the grumpy section of my brain has died following my mountain bike accident a couple of years ago.

Maybe I take after my grandad. I can always remember him telling us that Christmas Day was the best time to go into work as "no other bugger is about"

Farting will always be funny!

I sort-of agree, but still enjoy a bit of mild grumpyness occasionally.

As you say, after over thirty years of driving, you can't be arsed losing your temper with all the idiots. if I am driving alone as usual I generally give them some sweary advice that they can't possibly hear, maybe a "WTF" gesture, then forget about it.

Get your testosterone level checked. I'm in my twenties and had a short-medium term onset of irritability, grumpiness, decline in cognitive function, body aches etc. I went to the GP who checked my testosterone level which came back low out of range. I went on replacement therapy and became calm, tolerating and a nicer person to be around again.

Obviously as males get older their testosterone level naturally declines, in my case younger maybe as an exception but reaching your 40's and 50's its important to look out for the symptoms.

Woman when reaching the menopause have HRT and it changes their life's, so why shouldn't males have it? Its essential for our health and wellbeing and it can completely change you life if you are indeed suffering from low t. The NHS and doctors in the UK are still stuck in the dark ages in terms of male TRT but awareness is slowly improving.
