So here's the rub: I'll be 40 next year. I've generally been a patient easy-going and affable sort of bloke.
However, I've noticed that as the years go by, the above is becoming harder to maintain.
I now find myself becoming increasingly annoyed, frustrated and grumpy at people and their actions.
It seems to me that a large percentage of the populous are becoming increasingly rude, obnoxious, feckless and self-entitled. This extends to the road, where every other person seems on a mission and adopts a "fk you" attitude.
I thought life was supposed to begin at 40? Perhaps that's a life as a grumpy bd? frown

As you get older and more things happen it's simply the case that a) you become more focused on the time before you >= the the time ahead of you b) st happens that puts other people's petty dramas into real perspective that you now lack the patience for and c) you focus on those aspects of your life and the people in your life that actually matter to you.

It's perfectly normal.

Just don't turn into a selfish self centred or that angry dash cam tweedldum and his tweedledummerer missus from Halifax(?) who really needs a good culling, and you'll be like the rest of us.

Enjoy your life, it's later than you think..

^This, especially (b) if applicable to your own experience. It does indeed happen to us all: the trick is to develop a superiority complex that you share with NO-ONE (except on a forum read by hundreds of strangers) and let things wash over you with a wry smile.

And definitely don't buy a dash cam: get some pan pipes instead.

I find that all those easy going, fun people I just to know just seem to post "fking immigrants coming over here to get benefits" posts on their Facebook page these days.

I'm grumpy and middle-aged, but so far my Fascism has remained firmly in the closet, unlike a lot of people my age.

People say the saddest thing about growing old is your friends dying, but it's not, it's losing them to UKIP and Britain First...

I think going deaf can also be a problem - you have to get everyone to repeat everything.

Personally I really can't be arsed getting upset by most things these days (except the lack of PH messaging hehe ).

But I'm around people who get outraged at other's driving standards etc - I really do not see the point in getting upset - life really is pretty good for 99% of the population and I've long given up losing sleep over other people's incompetence.

Now 45 I am very aware that I am far less tolerant of others stupidity than I used to be but far more accommodating and emphatic to others views, opinions and cultures.

Some knob pulling across me because I am in his blind spot (maybe check it first you cock!) is far more infuriating than any debate about Muslims, bull running or kids charities.

I have enough st of my own to deal with without solving the worlds problems, but tell me well done steak is "better" or that Blossom Hill is wine and you are dead to me.

Feck I've not long turned 35 and I hate everyone.

Can't wait to see what I'm like when I'm the same age as you old gits wink

I do genuinely find myself getting more wound up by people every day. Doesn't help that a fair chunk of motorists today have zero observation skills, no manners, and stick driving at number 11 of the "Top 10 Things to do While Driving" list.

fking moronic s.

I am 46 now and have come to half agree with the phrase "The more people I meet, the more I like my dog."

I hate dogs.

I think I was a miserable git from about 20. I've just now reached the age where my misery is justifiable.....

(Definitely aimed at you specifically - and also aimed at everyone with this type of attitude).

You need to relax... seriously - relax - and calm down.

If half the things you're complaining about are true and rile so much, you aren't going to make 60.

Bring on a stroke or heart attack and then see how your attitude changes?

There are only two things wrong in your world - young people and old people - and you are both of them.

Forget the young idiots - they just haven't got old yet People get old and the world overtakes them.

You think "I have enough st of my own to deal with without solving the worlds problems" you don't, really you don't, and if you really do think 'you have enough st to deal with' maybe you could get someone to break both your legs and then see how much st you have to deal with when meeting a few more of the people in this world with your attitude.

I'm fking sick of reading crap like this on PH - you do not have enough st to deal with apart from an expensive car and an alleged 'mid-life-crisis'.

FFS - look around you and make a considered conscious decision as to whether you really are that hard done by, and mayne, just maybe you might consider if you can give all the other people that occupy this planet a bit of a break too. Maybe even help them out a bit too.

Given that my first thought after reading that (once I decided I would actually bother) was simply "oh fk off you tt" that I am indeed turning into a grumpy old git too OP, I'm 41.

The only problem is that actually really enjoy being grumpy!
Some of my thoughts are escaping from my head too and I find myself saying something quite insulting out loud without realising, I think this is first step in just being old and telling it like it. My gran is the best example of this and she's all the better for it!
