Been traveling several days, offshore Mexico to England, hardly a wink of sleep, been on shifts, changing time zones, long flight, 9 hours in Mexico airport.....

Last night hit the sack at 11pm, tossed and turned until gone 4, then woke up at 9 feeling like death. Tonight, in 2 hours time, I have to hit the road to London to fly again. I did hope to get my head down and knock out at least a few hours kip.....

So, I've laid here two hours already, in bed, brain is whizzing along a hundred miles an hour....

I hate people who can lay down and simply sleep like the dead, with no problem!

Just get on the plane and try to be asleep before take off. I always want to sit up and watch films, drink wine and eat, but the best way to travel is asleep. If you're that fried then it should be easy enough to pass out on the plane and disturb your neighbours with outlandish snoring.

Absolutely wide awake here too!

Managed about 40 minutes but some shouty youths came down the street earlier and I haven't been able to nod off again. Or even feel tired.

I dream of sleeping peacefully on a plane, but I circle the planet every ten weeks and sleep about 20 minutes max at a time. Maybe I need yoga, or meditation?

And it's 01:45 and I'm up, eating pizza for breakfast, as alarm was set for 02:30 and I know I would have fallen in deep slumber about 02:20, just in time to fk me up completely......

Maybe a few cold ones in the Qatar airways lounge will allow me an hours kip, or an upgrade to Business class will help. I had two upgrades last month on Qatar. Now THAT is how I should be flying every time.

When it comes to sleeping, I'm a World Champion. I'm usually fast asleep within a minute or two of my head on the pillow. How come? It's no secret recipe. I go to bed when I'm "can't keep my eyes open" tired. Be that at say 11 p.m. or like now 3 a.m. That time is dependent on how active, both physically and mentally I have been during my waking hours ..... Nighty-night ... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ... wink

Offshore myself right now , i have to be up in 2 hours for my 12 hour shift and I have managed about two hours sleep since first going to bed at about 10:00pm.

Eventually my body will give up and I will be able to sleep for four hours in one go, but that usually doesn't happen until after a week or so..

And my cabin is freezing, which is great conditions for sleep, not looking forward to showering though frown

I'm really good at falling asleep but not so good at staying asleep, normally a few hours later my brain is buzzing away, even though I'm shattered. I'm on my two weeks nightshift just now and that just screws things up even more!

I'm 8 weeks into not having slept through the night. It's killing me during the day to the point that I'm completely unproductive and permanently grumpy. Can fall asleep at the drop of a hat but get to 3am and that's it. Am lying here now shattered and desperate to sleep but just can't nod off.

When I'm offshore I go through phases. Usually I sleep okay to start with, so tired from two days traveling, but halfway through the five week stint I start having whole nights tossing and turning.

Today I gave up sleep and left my dads house north of Birmingham at 2am, was parked in Europcar Heathrow yard by 5am. Rained like hell half the way so I barely broached 50mph for half the trip.

Now I'm sat in the lounge, waiting for three hours for my flight. I'd be in the Qatar premium lounge, but the bint who checked me in entered me as silver, not gold, so they won't let me in.

As someone who knows what this is (I occasionally get the tingles, although had them far more when younger) - are you suggesting people should watch the videos and sleep more soundly as a result?

Try this app: http://amzn.to/1ifWajI

I would also look at learning to meditate. Just basic stuff to stop your mind wandering and stimulating you.

Yeah, it's worked for me a few times.

I used it a lot when writing my dissertation, not for 'tingles' but just as something relaxing in the background that when I'm trying to sleep, relaxes me, or when I'm working, causes less distraction than music or other ambient noises.
