I'm screwed, biggrin Flying back tomorrow to Norway and got the MX-5 at the airport on summer tyres with an hour's drive home. Got this photo from a friend, apparently 25cm of snow just arrived.

What happened to the poor bird?

No sign of any northern lights, or winter for that matter.

I see Moscow has had its first snow.

Could this be a sign that the polar vortex may be favouring a European excursion after a few North American years?

Going to get chilly for the time of year in the UK, time to check your central heating.

I've sold my Land Rover, so we're bound to be in for a very snowy winter!
Ah you see, I've just purchsed my first land rover, so I can counter that with a sure fire dry and warm winter now!

Sorry fellow snow lovers

Yep, nice and settled, but winds from a Scandinavian direction will keep the temps pegged well down. Pleasant by day, cold by night! Great weather for aurora spotting.

The early chill on the continent can only help our snow chances later in the winter, but certainly only one of the many factors that needs to be in place.

Lol, the almost unspoken suggestion of a Beast From the West...there's a thought. Although I suppose that for a true snowmageddon style Lake Effect on Crack outcome it'd need to be cold air and warm sea, not the other way round?

We had some Northern Lights action here in Bergen on Wednesday, the KP index reading was up to 9, the highest I've seen it this far down.

One of the ski resorts has opened this weekend so we are off skiing tomorrow, excited!!

"It's surprising given the globe as a whole is likely to have its warmest year on record."

Scum turd liars. What will happen is the same as last year I expect, no continent will post a hottest year - despite all the temperatures being adjusted up flagrantly, then they will add in their recent new dodgy sea surface temperature data method, and declare the globe was hotter than ever. This record will diverge even further from the satellite data which they are ignoring as it doesn't agree, until such time as they can 'adjust' that too.

Meanwhile despite El Nino, no global warming for 18 years 8 months.

Phew, there was me thinking I was the only one.

In a moment of idleness, I read the predictions for this winter in some reputable sources. then I read the bog roll special aka the express. I conclude it will be a bitterly cold winter requiring us to ungrade our flip flops to plimsoles and maybe put on a hat

My only real conclusion is that a lot of resources are invested in creating a lot of guesses surrounded by caveats.

We've had snow a few times in October even on the South coast, there is a pool of quite cold air on the continent that could come our way, so it's not impossible. All the papers widely exaggerate forecasts though.
