Another disappointing Winter, had enough, when is Summer coming? Could do with a heatwave over Easter weekend, missus is dragging us to West Wales Glamping whatever that is..
The average daytime max. for the South for Jan/Feb is about +8C.Another disappointing Winter, had enough, when is Summer coming? Could do with a heatwave over Easter weekend, missus is dragging us to West Wales Glamping whatever that is..
To get proper lasting snow in the south, the temperature has to be 10C below 'normal', which is massive.
But when they do happen, the cold deviations tend to be greater than the warm deviations.
The result is that a typical Winter is milder than 'average', and there are many more of them.
It's all rather predisposed to disappointment!

Good news is MetOffice are forecasting below normal temps for late Feb in to March. There still hope, but it's the hope that kills you.To get proper lasting snow in the south, the temperature has to be 10C below 'normal', which is massive.

Had a sudden warmer spell so now we're onto sheet ice with water on top. Passed two cars that were stuck on the hill to my house in the MX-5. Got to love spiked tyres! That said, I did have a moment on the way down it earlier in the day. Rear tyres got stuck in a rut and the car ended up going down the hill at a 30-45 degree angle for around 30-40m. It did catch the attention somewhat!

Snow warning for central/southern England weds night into Thurs...
Actually, I think I've worked out what the problem with your snow deprivation is.It's me. I am the Snow Jonah.
For the third time in succession, I've pitched up in Steamboat Springs at this time of year when they've had plenty of snow, and as soon as I get there the sun comes out and everything starts melting. Obviously, with several feet of the stuff lying around even at the bottom of the mountain, there was still plenty to go and hurt myself with, but true to form, as soon as it came time to for me to leave, it started snowing.
Oddly enough, I also seem responsible for the stinking hot weather in Auckland as well - and just before I left en-route to Colorado, the temperature dropped by about 10C and it started pissing it down with rain.
The bad news for you is I'm back in Berkshire and not going anywhere for a while. So the chances of you seeing any decent snow are the square-root of jack-all. Soz.

Weird here in Boston, arrived Sunday and it was bone chillingly, ridiculously cold, snowed a bit on Monday, then torrential rain yesterday, today was t shirt weather.
Weird for us, perfectly normal for the East coast! The good news is that a warmer east coast is less likely to fuel the jet stream. Long may it continue!
It's the usual problem with a northerly airflow, it's never quite cold enough by the time it gets down south.
There's a slim chance a low could move up from the south and engage with the cold air but it won't all be snow unless the timing is perfect, then the snow itself may keep air temperatures sufficiently suppressed to perpetuate the snow!
