Even several heavy showers down here (well technically soft hail/pellet snow but it looks like snow and floats like snow).

Sounds like graupel.

Off skiing tonight, but it's been a reasonably toasty 5C or so here. Up to 11C at the weekend by the looks of things!

Decided to paint the fence today so it was going to be bad but even I'm a little surprised. So far:

1) Sun
2) Rain
3) Hailstones
4) Snow
5) Wind
6) Plaque of frogs*

If this is global warming it really sucks.

Heavy snow just to the north of my MiL's in the Black Forest.

We sorted out the balcony here last weekend and since then it has gone from lovely 18C to 5C with the wind chill taking it down to 0C. Lovely.

Yep, that's the stuff, soft hail is easier to remember - does what it says on the tin!

Got soggy on my lunchtime walk today.

It's too late in the year for snow, bring back global warming

The BBC weather man had his 1980s April whiteout picture up last night, then said it won't be like that - bah!

-3C night before, -4C here last night believe it or not!
I suspect my own little frost hollow will have recorded similar last night and over the last few days, but it's a manual thermometer that I can't check until at least Sat. so I'll only know the weekly lowest, not to the day.

Today was noticeably the warmest day of the year when coming out of the house. Seems like we have got a toasty 13C!

Bank holiday forecast...

Friday: Low pressure. Windy and frequently wet. Sunny periods.
Saturday: Brief period of high pressure - enjoy! Not warm though.
Sunday: Cold front crosses the country - downhill from here... Generally cool and cloudy.
Monday: It's a bank holiday Monday, what do you think? Low pressure North of Scotland being horrible. Mixed bag, but worse further north.

As a general guide to the weekend, SE better, NW worse.

We've had snow flurries up here in Queensbury since late afternoon, but nothing has settled. However the local forecast is showing "heavy snow" from 11.00 tonight until 9.00 in the morning, so we'll see what we wake up to! I suspect the Tour de Yorkshire organisers are not too chuffed. First stage tomorrow, Beverley to Settle.
