Well well well, a local 'forecaster' has predicted a potential for a cold/snowy snap for the Island around mid-December, which would be our first proper snowfall for nearly three years. May be prompting more scenes like the below from March 2013.
There are signs of a northerly around then, but it's one model and so far away I haven't bothered raising anyone's hopes.What we want, of course, is not a northerly. It's a BftE!
Well, back to Norway and snow after a month in Patagonia (had a bit of snow there too actually). Just a few days after the first ski trips up here, but need to wait until the weekend to go now due to the sun not rising. Head torches are fine at night normally, but not ideal when the snow cover is not 100% yet in case you hit a rock etc.
snow tyres half price from (mytyres) so ordered 4 for the scooby, (thats the snow shield in place), cut the lawns yesterday,,,,grass just wont stop growing ....outside in just jeans and a sweatshirt...
even put the xmas lights up on the tree in the garden to try and tempt the BFTE to pay us a visit...
any long range predictions...?

We're moving from a period dominated by the Atlantic, with 0% chance of cold (let alone snow), to seeing that the pattern is changing. Good signs for some cold coming, but what's beyond that is unclear.We're talking about a period around 10th Dec onwards, for a few days, which is too far to be certain of.
November 2015 was the dullest November ever, and dullest month since Jan2013:

Starting to look like something is afoot from the 12th onwards. Nothing concrete, not by a long way. Lots of snow porn charts showing a strong Arctic blast. A potential Greenland high, but not sign of the elusive Scandi high...
In essence, as per yesterday, far less chance of Atlantic weather from the SW

I love how the official term for it is 'Dull' http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/news/releases/archive/...
It almost reads like an Onion article;
"Provisional statistics show that November 2015 was the dullest on record..."
Uncannily accurate for me and not for the weather
