Well well well, a local 'forecaster' has predicted a potential for a cold/snowy snap for the Island around mid-December, which would be our first proper snowfall for nearly three years. May be prompting more scenes like the below from March 2013.
There are signs of a northerly around then, but it's one model and so far away I haven't bothered raising anyone's hopes.

What we want, of course, is not a northerly. It's a BftE!

So we have some wet and windy weather to come, but the charts are beginning to hint at cooler changes mid-December. Frequent snow-threaders will appreciate this could mean nothing hehe

No sign of deep winter or blocking though, at this time.

North West England - and I'm sitting in the back room with a t shirt on and no fire on, in early December......ridiculous. And I've spent money on a Castelli Flanders base layer and Sorpasso bib tights.....don't think I'm going to need them for a while.

Well, back to Norway and snow after a month in Patagonia (had a bit of snow there too actually). Just a few days after the first ski trips up here, but need to wait until the weekend to go now due to the sun not rising. Head torches are fine at night normally, but not ideal when the snow cover is not 100% yet in case you hit a rock etc.

We're moving from a period dominated by the Atlantic, with 0% chance of cold (let alone snow), to seeing that the pattern is changing. Good signs for some cold coming, but what's beyond that is unclear.

We're talking about a period around 10th Dec onwards, for a few days, which is too far to be certain of.

November 2015 was the dullest November ever, and dullest month since Jan2013:

Starting to look like something is afoot from the 12th onwards. Nothing concrete, not by a long way. Lots of snow porn charts showing a strong Arctic blast. A potential Greenland high, but not sign of the elusive Scandi high...

In essence, as per yesterday, far less chance of Atlantic weather from the SW smile

I love how the official term for it is 'Dull'

It almost reads like an Onion article;

"Provisional statistics show that November 2015 was the dullest on record..."

Uncannily accurate for me and not for the weather hehe

IM about 40 miles SE of Cumbria and it's coming down here relentlessly. Proper full on rain and winds for the last 30 hours. Not stopping.

We are sending it your way. A few weeks ago this was a trickle. 1/100th the width. Finally moving off now.

I bet Denton road in Ilkley (over river near rugby club) will be flooded again by the morning, couldn't believe this when I saw it:

It's been great here in Hampshire. The breeze dried the paddock off enough for me to jump on the ride on and give it a cut this afternoon biggrin

I used to live in a small village in the north Lake District - had to buy a Defender to get to the shops. Cumbria is bumpy, but not bumpy enough to get rid of standing water.

We've had some interesting weather the past couple of days, starting with a huge amount of rain on Thursday. The bus in the pics fell into the river when the bridge collapsed, only the driver on board at the time and he got off sharpish. Pics taken today.
