At times the December temp. record might be within reach, with 13/14C generally, somewhere in Wales or Scotland with a bit of a Foehn could easily reach 18.3C.

Probably not the best time to mention that there's another 5" due tomorrow, then...

Watching the biathlon from Austria this morning and it's looking very green! The track looks like they imported the snow as it's the only white to be seen!

Haven't checked since this morning but the GFS was looking wintry while the ECM chart was close to bbq weather. Will update in the morning, but the smart money is on a green and grey Xmas

So, it turns out it was a weather lady making the last forecast, hence what she thought was 5" was only 1".

Next opportunity to be wrong is Tuesday.

Looks like Thursday will be peak warmth for the moment in the UK, 16+C possibly quite widely, 1948 18.3C record probably not in danger as general wind etc. not favourable for localised additional warming effects.

I wouldn't write the winter off yet, the Arctic is chilling nicely, the longer it stays locked up, the colder the break out.

Hopefully, I'll have the 4WD fixed on my L200 in the next week.

We are going skiing on 26th December for a week and the Alps are looking decidedly green at the moment. Fingers crossed for a cool down here (I'm sick of waking up hot) and a big dump of snow there over the next 10 days

It was 11c on the car thermometer at 0740 this morning and it's set to get warmer this week - just crazy

No. If you are south of about Newcastle, you wont need them until mid Jan at the very earliest.

The models are shocking this winter.

I am seriously considering binning our ski holiday over Christmas, as there is pretty much no chance of snow outside the arctic circle and North America at the moment.

If it helps we are getting absolutely loads of snow at the moment. Ended up getting home at 5am this morning when I should have got home around 10:30pm last night due to the plane being diverted and road conditions being really bad. Going to go home early-ish and put on the big powder skis and do a trip today. That said, due 5C at the weekend which will ruin conditions (or mean we have to go inland a bit).
