Puggit whats your initial forecast for winter ?????
James Madden is forecasting worst winter ever so im thinking mild and wet !
James Madden feeds info to the Daily Express, so I'd take a pinch of salt with whatever he says.James Madden is forecasting worst winter ever so im thinking mild and wet !
The jet stream has been a real pain recently. Just look at what happened in Europe, many times France was hot right up to Calais, and the heat barely crossed the Channel.
On the flip side, sea temperatures around the UK are about 0.5oC below average, so there is hope that our hot water bottle will influence the weather yet!
Anything else is complete guess work, and El Nino is the joker in the pack. I certainly don't forsee an early start to winter though.

End of this week into the weekend and next week looks like the high tries to re-establish itself, so hopefully bringing with it settled and at times fairly warm weather. At least for the southern half of the UK anyway .
Indeed. This will also bring chilly nights and misty mornings. Get the camera out jimmyjimjim said:
For some reason I thought you were one of the Norwegian PHers and couldn't work out why the Norwegians had named something "Eisenhower" Is this a normal time for snow in that region, or has it shown up a bit early or late?In British news, looks like it's going to be a mild week here (according to Netweather at any rate) and a lot of the trees are still VERY green, but then every year I forget what point it was when they started to fall the previous year XD

It's a little late in the year, judging by recent years, but not by much.
Still 32c where I am, which is also a tad high and late in the year
It IS starting to cool off at night a bit now, so the worst of summer is over, but I'd normally expect snow on the ground within a month, or at least it to be bd cold by Halloween - and it feels like there's a good way to go before that point.
