I've ditched the summer thread - none of that happening again this year!
I think we've missed a trick here.
This should be the official 2015/2016 winter thread.

No mention of the 'S' word.

Ha! Well "a bit" would be an improvement on last year when we only got a dusting! A dusting! Pffft.....

What are people moaning about? Last year it took me several hours to get to Uni from Sheffield to Huddersfield...also days where snow took public transport out and cars were strewn everywhere for days. Last year was good for it

James Madden feeds info to the Daily Express, so I'd take a pinch of salt with whatever he says.

The jet stream has been a real pain recently. Just look at what happened in Europe, many times France was hot right up to Calais, and the heat barely crossed the Channel.

On the flip side, sea temperatures around the UK are about 0.5oC below average, so there is hope that our hot water bottle will influence the weather yet!

Anything else is complete guess work, and El Nino is the joker in the pack. I certainly don't forsee an early start to winter though.

End of this week into the weekend and next week looks like the high tries to re-establish itself, so hopefully bringing with it settled and at times fairly warm weather. At least for the southern half of the UK anyway smile.

Yes! Snow!

Ok, 60 miles west and 6,000 feet higher, but it's started.

For some reason I thought you were one of the Norwegian PHers and couldn't work out why the Norwegians had named something "Eisenhower" hehe Is this a normal time for snow in that region, or has it shown up a bit early or late?

In British news, looks like it's going to be a mild week here (according to Netweather at any rate) and a lot of the trees are still VERY green, but then every year I forget what point it was when they started to fall the previous year XD

Have to say the last few days have felt more like late summer than autumn; managed to get a few decent bike rides in, and in summer clothes.

It's that kind of middling weather right now; not quite warm enough for t-shirt and shorts, but pleasant enough. But I do find myself wandering outside first thing in the morning wishing it was just 3-4 degrees cooler. There's a lot to be said for those sharp cold mornings.

I figured leaving the text in made the location fairly obvious smile

It's a little late in the year, judging by recent years, but not by much.
Still 32c where I am, which is also a tad high and late in the year frown

It IS starting to cool off at night a bit now, so the worst of summer is over, but I'd normally expect snow on the ground within a month, or at least it to be bd cold by Halloween - and it feels like there's a good way to go before that point.
