I hope not!, i quite like it here.

Wouldn’t they allow any expats to stay but just block new ones from working here? Here in Munich there are a lot of us so that would be disastrous

I have never been Pat

and I'd get German nationality I reckon

I imagine otherwise they'd make us apply for some sort of outside-EU Aufenthaltserlaubnis, maybe a language check etc

Thats me screwed then.

My son was born here, but he is a UK national. Maybe that will help us to stay. Every little helps

our youngest has a German passport

if the parents have been here 8 years, they're entitled (or one parent is German of course) 18euro vs 180 for a UK one - still entitled to UK passport though

I've been here 18 years, but sort of unofficial for the first 8 or so, and the missus went back to UK for one year, so it reset

Who says UK Nationals could not work in Germany if we opt out of the EU? It would be down to individual agreements made with the respective EU members.

Nobody said that.

My point was whether those of us that actually live here would be sent packing. I can't imagine it myself but it kept me awake for nearly four minutes last night as it went through my head.

I'd take dual nationality before I'd be forced back to GB, the GB which seemed good and wholesome when I left does not exist any more.

Is that 8 years from birth or 8 years total? I have been here 7 years, my son was born in my 6th year. So does that mean next year i can get him a German passport or do i have to wait another 7 years?

Might be a good idea as a backup plan having a German passport for him

Won't you simply just be able to claim asylum from the Corbyn State?

you have to have been here 8 years before the birth, otherwise when they are 8 years old they can apply to get one
when they are born you get the form from the hospital with all the registration business

my other kids can't get one, my daughter is gone 8 now, so she probably can

they merged it on with the big 'migrant/immigrant/not-racist-but' bunfight

I'm not going into that

I prefer sausage-muncher, btw

Would the UK want them back, though? Not a foregone conclusion.
