Bloody hell. They want your Tax return? What if you have never filed one? Better start claiming my money back from the past couple of years.......There's a list of documents that must be presented as follows:

Doubt it, there's a box to tick if you're an asylum seeker Adenauer said:
I'm losing the will to do it, to be honest. I have everything they need, but, meh.
I know what you mean. I had my TüV done recently and I nearly lost the will to live after they tried to say that my wheels were not TÜV approved even though I had the old TÜV with me! The amount of extra paperwork (and cost) was just silly.

Is the Meldebescheinigung the Einwohnermeldebescheinigung? If so, you won't have one that recent unless you moved in the last three months, surely. There's a list of documents that must be presented as follows:

I left Germany in July 1994 and moved back in October 2000. When I finally got round to dealing with my Einwohneranmeldung in March, I caused great consternation, when the Beamtin learned that not only had I delayed my Anmeldung by nearly six months, but I was not moving straight from Mühlbruchstraße (the h was very important in that street name!) to Eschenheimer Landstraße, because I had spent six years back in the UK without making my Abmeldung!
She was the best kind of Beamtin though, cheerily informing me that she should fine me some not very significant amount and I was very nachlässig, but she checked with her Chef and they decided they could let me off.

Sorry, only just seen this.Yes it is, and if it's older than 3 months you need to go to the Amt and get a new one.
I'm actually thinking of phoning the nice Beamtin and making an appointment to go and see her. That way she will see that I am a powerfully built Director, speak perfect German, and have no need or desire to go on any stupid Einbürgerungs course or any other nonsense, and that I haven't just arrived in the back of an Eddie Stobart lorry surrounded by pallets of Stilton Cheese so that I can claim benefits for my three wives and 24 children.

D'you reckon we'll be sent back to the Island if the UK opts out of the EU?

Sorry, only just seen this.
I've been resident in Luxembourg for almost 18 years, so I have 'permanent residency' status ... so long as the UK remains in the EU!
I work for a wholly owned subsidiary of a major German company. I'd like to think that my company would apply for a work permit should the UK leave the EU and my residency rights be brought into question, but you never know, my company could tell me to fk off instead!
Both my children were born here and will qualify for dual nationality when they turn 18 (in 4 and 5 years respectively), and I'd like them to have the extra passport.
I, however, would have to be FLUENT in Luxembourgish, and I'm not, to apply for dual nationality. To be honest, after so long away, I wouldn't be too keen to move back to the UK. I like my life here.
So, if the UK would leave the EU and I would lose my job and residency rights, I'd sell up and go and be a diving instructor somehwere warmer!
HOLY THREAD RESUR..., etc....
The Luxembourg Govt yesterday voted in favour to change the nationality law.
Residency for 20 years, no formal language test needed, so that's me sorted in March 2018!
My children, who were born here and go to local school, so speak Luxembourgish, French, German and English fluently, will be able to get their Luxembourgish dual nationality from 1st April 2017 and won't have to wiat until they're 18.
GET. THE. fk. IN!
Such a relief!
