I get lots of grief about my username, and people seem to take delight in disagreeing with me and implying my username is appropriate.

I picked it when I posted about my mother dying of cancer and me not sure why I wasn't getting emotional.
Consequently everytime someone has a dig about it it reminds me of my mum dying, so thanks everyone.

Whenever I see your username I think it's a good play on words, always makes me smile.

At an old job I was consistently bored and on here. Probably needs a change now

Totally random choice, just happened to be listening to the track when I wanted to choose a new name.

I doubt that it would tax GCHQ to work mine out…

I thought it was a very clever name, no matter the reasons behind it.

I wanted something unique to this site and anonymous so picked a word from a TV show where they intentionally made a play on a legendary Guardian misspelling

Which I then misspelled myself in translation smile

I thought I had already posted on this thread, but apparently not. My username is a made-up word invented by (and nicked from) Charlie Brooker because I liked the sound of it.

Pretty obvious but a guy at work used to call it me being an easy migration from darth maul. I liked it as I do like an anti hero, but funny thing is I’ve never watched a Star Wars all the way through and am in no way a fan!

Man you really should, at least watch the clone wars, Darth Maul was a Dathomirian and betrayed by palatine after being groomed his whole life., his slide in to madness and subsequent fight with Ahsoka Tano is a totally epic arc, also his obsession with obi wan fueled his madness, when they finally meet in rebels it is something to behold.

I digress

I used to have the occasional lunch with a soon-to-retire account rep from DHL International. As such, he used to frequently expense lunches and would enjoy tucking into a steak for two and bottle of wine at Carluccio's.

Over time, we got to know one another's character and hobbies. He learnt that I enjoyed going fast and usually, inappropriately so, in contrast to the prevailing elf n' safety culture.

At some point, he pontificated -- "aaah, in Italian we describe that as bolide, which means 'very fast'."

Michael is my christian name. Brits have a tendency to shorten every name, but I prefer Michael. I digress.
