Not sure what's more cringe-worthy

The line "I really want to get to know you" being thrown out there on what is basically a first "date" or the fact you are all suggesting the fact he breaks up a happy-home by sleeping with a married woman.

If you want a quick shag there are easier ways to do it than ruining a happy relationship
If you want a serious relationship then whatever a woman would do to her current BF she would eventually do to you.
Bear that in mind.

I don't get it.

This negativity to the line I used.

Fact of the matter is the night turned out just fine. There were no awkward moments. So for now... I have made a decent friend!

I would like to see than the PH Committee for their efforts. It's been fun.

It has indeed. I still think she in interested in you. Slow burner. She needs to know she can trust you, and that discretion will be the key word.

Years ago a girl at work in a long term relationship with a fella she'd met at a previous workplace fell for a guy she was working with. Dumped previous guy and married the new guy and went on and had children.

A couple of years ago she had a fling with a guy at a new place of work and dumped the husband. They new couple are still together but if I was the latest fella, I'd be worried.

OP - Bravo! You did the difficult thing and told a woman you like her and would like to get to know her intimately. You found out she has a partner and you respected that and were a decent enough guy to not let the disappointment make you act like an ass.

You never know, her other half could be due for the heave ho and you're in there next but not the cause.

We are all experts on here wink

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, but it just doesn't sound like the sort of thing that people outside of "fifty shades of grey" or the like would say when talking to a woman. My wife or her friends would probably find it amusing and roll their eyes.

"Small talk" is exactly what you do when getting to know somebody in the real world.

Anyway, you've learned your lesson -don't ask a load of blokes on the internet for dating advice!

As a teacher I've been learning --
You'll forgive me if I boast --
And I've now become an expert,
On the subject I like most.

(Spoken) Getting to know you.

(Singing) Getting to know you,
Getting to know all about you.
Getting to like you,
Getting to hope you like me.

Getting to know you,
Putting it my way,
But nicely,
You are precisely,
My cup of tea.

ANNA AND THE MOTHERS

Getting to know you,
Getting to know all about you.
Getting to like you,
Getting to hope you like me.

Getting to know you,
Putting it my way,
But nicely,
You are precisely,

ANNA

My cup of tea.

ALL

Getting to know you,
Getting to feel free and easy
When I am with you,
Getting to know what to say

Haven't you noticed
Suddenly I'm bright and breezy?
Because of all the beautiful and new
Things I'm learning about you
Day by day.

Getting to know you,
Getting to feel free and easy
When I am with you,
Getting to know what to say

Haven't you noticed
Suddenly I'm bright and breezy?
Because of all the beautiful and new
Things I'm learning about you
Day .. by ... day.

Chicks love that sort of stuff, she probably went home a rubbed it clean off!

Who knows? I doubt the first thing that anyone for whom it had "worked" thought was - "I'll just go and share this on the internet with a bunch of inadequate middle-aged losers the powerfully built and begoateed company directors of the famous PH. meh.

"I'm flattered. You're an attractive young man. However I don't think the other half would be happy if you stole me from him".
Common PH, FFS, whilst we obviously don't know the exact wording, surely the correct response should of have been 'Yeah, and how do you feel about being stolen?'.

Easy in hindsight eh? Even easier in reality - it's called not giving (too much of) a fvck about the consequences, you'll win or you'll lose, it's all a gamble.

OP - Get back and talk to her again and get clarification on the 'stolen' bit - who knows, the two of you might be perfect for each other!

(A few years back I met a lady who on the second meet had removed her wedding rings, dame/game on it was young Jedi).
>cringe<
This thread has all gone a bit ‘Swiss Toni’.

What does it say about Pistonheads (or maybe Formula1) that the last race got 25 pages whereas a bloke chatting up a woman at work gets 48 pages and counting?

One is a man chasing someone fruitlessly.

As a young lad I worked with a guy who had the gift of the gab and also had absolutely no embarrassment gene. When we went out he'd make it clear to girls what he wanted and if they said no he'd move on to the next one.

He almost never used to come home with us at the end of the evening.
