And my boy saw an advert for "anki overdrive" and now he wants it.

To be fair, compared to all the other crap he wants and based on what I have read today it looks pretty good but where do I get it in the UK? I can only find the old "drive" version.

Cheers

While I agree it's early, and the wife's present will be given due though on Christmas Eve as usual, in this case he really want it and it looks quite cool. Also, if it's not already I think they will sell out well before I would normally give it any thought.

And it is quite a PH you so I thought I might get away with it.

Bits and pieces out in Tesco when I called in for bevvy earlier.

I was disgusted and dismayed, but now I'm drunk so it's all OK.

Harrods had the original version pretty early, had a little go and it was great, do they do delivery? Looks like the new one would be a decent step up from the old Scalextric. My lad is only 2, by the time he is old enough for this stuff god knows what will be about!

P.s not big ph director, just went for the cheap chocolate wink

It's great love shops stocking Xmas stuff early , means I can get Panatone instead of having to import it from Italy .

When did parents come under so much pressure to buy the "in" toy?

I don't remember demanding the latest toy back in the 1980s. I know they had ads on the TV for st like that, though.

Calm down. There's no pressure in this house. He sees stuff he likes the look of on TV and occasionally mentions he might put it his Christmas list.

In this particular instance I had clocked the advert before he did. Normally the stuff he sees and likes is googled and turns out to be crap so that is explained and it's never spoken about again.

In this instance it looks pretty cool and like he and his mates would genuinely get a lot of use and pleasure from it. A cross between scalextric and video games which might harbour more of an interest in cars and motorsport in the future.

If I can't track one down that's no problem and he wills understand, but if I can and he enjoys it and gets pleasure from it while I get pleasure from the fact that I found it for him with a small amount of effort what's the problem? You would have to be a proper Scrooge to not want to see a nine year old get a fun and practical toy he wants for Christmas for the sake of a little bit of effort.

It'll be a lot cheaper to just buy the anki overdrive without the kids. I'm sure the shop won't ask if you have any when you buy it.
