How much was the wedding?
Was just normal wedding...all the guys on the stag were just told to book a week off work, pack a bag and turn up at Heathrow with their passports, the best man sorted everything else. Great story, would have been even better if I had made the cut!

100k would help a lot of starving people.
Old post, but as the thread has been raised from the ashes...

Love the irony of a man complaining about 'having' to spunk £2,500 up the wall on a stag do and wedding waxing lyrical on the good that somebody else's £100k could do were it spent on feeding the poor.

I'm getting this all wrong. For my stag do I have invited my mates to join me at my rugby club beer festival. 15 miles tops for them to arrange travel and I am 5 minutes from home (plus a fair few of them happen to play rugby there as well). Other than that a select group of us are having a day at the touring cars at Croft

As for the wedding - some of you have paid to attend a wedding what we intend to spend in total on our own. Madness

Probably most one has cost me is a few hundred, as I bought a new suit when I was best man last year but was fairly local and they paid for our hotel room

I'm surprised anyone has agreed to come on that stag do.

Have to say I am interested to know why they wouldn't. A group of lads having a good day out and not spending ridiculous amounts of money. We're a bit older now (I'm 41 and have been married before) so we would rather just have a decent day out than being stupid. Plus by not spending a lot I can focus on spending the money on my honeymoon and holiday with the kids

Is the stag do becoming as big a willy-waving contest as the wedding itself? Because if that is what society and convention dictates it can go and bks

I'm the best man for an upcoming wedding and the hassle I've had organising a weekend away - including some of his friends that are less than helpful, or even polite, and certainly in no rush to reimburse me - has ensured I won't be having a stag do.

The gent I'm best man for is my best man, and I've no doubt he'll never appreciate how lucky he is in not having to reciprocate.

I was recently a best man too and I can sympathise with the pain of organising a stag for a disparate group of people; some not forthcoming with money, not responding to requests, cliquey groups thinking that it's just a "holiday" for them and only want to go where they want to... one can't please all the people all the time. The stag is about the groom-to-be, and getting friends together to "celebrate" the last of his singledom.

Exactly, if you're not larging it in vegas with £100k paid for what are you bothering for?

I imagine you're a very insecure person, maybe even a touch lonely, even in a crowd.

Sounds good to me. I bet they enjoyed it more than if they were blackmailed into wasting time/money on some overpriced charade.

Blimey, I know there are some worryingly thick people on PH, but surely you lot can see a smiley at the top of a post...
