Do they section off a piece of river for this sort of work to stop people and debris getting scooped up? Seemed pretty close to that ship at the end of the run.

Watched one of these things at a random display in Mallorca a year or two ago. Very impressive and they got a lot closer to the marina than they did that boat!

There must be a hell of a drag when the scoop up the water. How does it work without dumping the nose into the water? Presumably some of the water must flow through it??
