Independance of mind and action.
What you choose to make of them - well, who cares what others think.
I wasn't planning on posting along these lines since I took this thread in the light spirit in which it was obviously intended. What you choose to make of them - well, who cares what others think.
But I agree, it comes down to the ability to say no. I used to think it was mastery of your own destiny, but that arises from the ability to say no to stuff you don't want to do, and yes to that which you do (independence of mind and action). You rarely own that early in life.
ah my thread has arrived. I'm 38 tomorrow and I have ALL of the things mentioned thus far.

I was taught to go nowhere without:
A corkscrew.
Condoms.
Toilet paper.
This good advice has served me well.
Was your teacher a drunken fecal incontinent with HIV??A corkscrew.
Condoms.
Toilet paper.

I wouldn't go say, camping, without toilet paper or out on a date without condoms but I wouldn't generally take them everywhere with me.
