I'm only 33 so have a few years yet before middle age but I don't think I want any of these things other than a whisky collection (which I already have) and perhaps a fasy estate (which I'm vaguely searching for now).

I do have a few other things mentioned though which are far more important like a chainsaw, shed, workshop full of tools etc.

By middle age I'd like a fast estate, a dog and general contentment and I'll be sorted.
Ah yes, I also have a trusty hound!

Whenever I see someone in a black suit, black tie and clumpy shoes I always assume that that person was bought those by his mother as a family friend was getting married and the parents wouldn't pay for a suit that couldn't be used for everything, including funerals.

How do we define middle-age these days, the name to me implies the midpoint of your life span so if we assume average life expectancy is 80, then middle age by definition is 40.

In that case I think some people have a very weird idea of middle age, most of the suggestions seem far too much like retiree\OAP then middle age to me.

Nice - I'll be round later for a tasting.

Strictly speaking I think you're correct, but I'd suggest it's 50+. I don't think I considered my middle age to start 'till I was well into my 40s. Something changed with my attitudes towards the end of my forties where I was a lot more content in myself.

That's pretty much how I see it. I'm just 52 and I think that the last 2-3 years have seen a massive change in my contentment levels. Still love doing stupid and fun stuff but just don't sweat the small stuff any more - very chilled is a good way to explain it.

Insightful.

Also insightful reading people bragging about thousands of litres of wine and cars etc.

So much pretentiousness lol!

What's the point in bragging to people who don't know you? It's just an answer to a mildly diverting thread.

Some people don't half like making themselves feel good.

I agree though, it is mildly entertaining.

In my defense I started using the username when I was about 15 and "leet speak" was all the rage.

I've just kept with it.

I had an MS Dos bot pack (I think that was the term) so that I could play multi player against the computer. Christ I loved that!
