Our company is going under and I'll be out of a job by August, but the whole procedure is such a shambles we have no idea how long our particular department will be active for. So every day I turn up not knowing if it will be my last. Management have been very much conspicuous by their absence. Until yesterday, when the person in charge walked onto our floor for the first time in months - to see if his fancy dress costume had been delivered because the company was throwing a party in London.

Still, at least he can still go as a giant knob.

Is that for real ?
I think I'd have, actually scrub that, there's no think about it, I would have told him that maybe throwing a party at a time like this is not the wisest or correct thing to do, not quite sure I'd put it politely though.

Oh yes, and this is after they have let several people go and even returned the vending machines since they can't afford the rent. It is rather amusing to see the deeply unpopular department manager (who I haven't forgiven for telling me I couldn't have compassionate leave for my Granddad's funeral) trying to act like everyone's best mate all of a sudden

Sounds like the Regional Manager at my first job. I remember him telling me in the pub that I was an interchangeable resource, and he bought me to do a job and didn't care how many hours over my contracted hours that it took me to do it. And that there was no training budget either (turned out there was, but he and the deputy used it as their personal slush fund). It was his exploitative dickish attitude that formed my opinion of Permanent Employment and set me down the path to freelancing.

Oh how I laughed when, later on after I had left the company, word got back to me that he'd turned up to a meeting at Head Office still drunk from the night before, made a dick of himself, and been fired on the spot. hehe

Jesus wept. For days a middle aged woman in my office has been moaning about how it's too cold. Got a stiff neck and back because of it apparently, oooo, it's terrible it is.

Today, in apparent contradiction of the allegedly arctic conditions, she's decided to open the window which tunnels a strong draught right down my side "as it's a nice day out and we should get some fresh air".

SLAM. Window shut. We've got climate control ffs.

Aaaaaaaannnd........it's open again. "You don't mind, just for a few minutes". Don't frickin' tell me what I don't mind, missus.

Complains about sitting in a cool draught from the aircon, gets the whole office fiddling with the temperature settings, up and down, down and up, but apparently I won't mind to be sitting in a draught when she fancies it.

SLAM. Window shut again.

Sounds like one I used to work with - spent all winter moaning about being cold, office temp 22 - 23 degrees, then complained about being too hot during summer, office temp 21 degrees frown

All office air conditioning units should be set to 21-22 degrees and locked off. Too cold? then wear a jumper.

This one suffers from hayfever (as do I), won't take any pills as they're "poison", and now she's having a sneezing meltdown. FFS.

Who ever put the shed extension onto the back of our prefab garage.

The tongue and groove needs replacing so I thought I'd just clad it with featheredge as it will be knocked down in a couple of years, nice and cheap and makes things look better.

Oh no, I guesstimate it was 2.4m x 2.4m or just under, having just measured it its 2.5 x 2.8.

Arghhhhhh

ETA 2.4m or 4.8m are normal board lengths in case anyone doesn't understand my frustration ! This shed extension was built from scratch too grrrrrrrr
