I've started to hide stuff from people I don't know on Facebook from my news feed. It's made me realise there are loads of people who share stuff publicly, and it annoys me beyond reason

People that whilst watching a TV program find it necessary to pick holes in everything that's going on. Just watch the program and keep it to yourself.
People who, while you're trying to watch (and, crucially, LISTEN TO) a television program, insist on debating the Donald Trump issue just because another program about Trump was trailed during an ad break.

FFS People!!! Shut the fk up, or I'll never find out how Humphrey managed to deduce that the poor volcanologist was murdered by absolutely everyone who wasn't a regular cast member, all at the same time, despite it looking for all the world like natural causes...

...oh, and British made TV programs digging for dirt on Donald Trump. Just fking quit now. He has, as far as we can tell, been duly elected to serve as the next President of the USA. If he's going to be impeached, I'm pretty damned sure that it's not the producer of Newsnight or bloody Panorama that's going to be doing the impeaching.

Now. Can I please get back to watching (AND BLOODY-WELL LISTENING TO!) recorded episodes of Death In Paradise and Father Brown without having to pause or rewind them eleventy billion times?

No doubt mentioned on here before, but people who say "Can I Get?" makes me want to kill in cold blood.
Yes!, I don't know why I hate this so much but I do with a passion. Although usually heard in ''council thread'' worthy places such as McDonalds etc

But it's only like:

"Can you spare some change, Gov?"

The only logical answer is "I don't know", since only when you have finished your own life will you know that you didn't need it for a cuppa and warm your feet by the fire yourself.

Harsh - but fair.

Yeah I don't get the hatred for phrases like "Can I get..."

If you're going to be that pedantic then you won't be able to communicate effectively.

"Can I get a cup of tea?" - "I don't know, can you?"
"Could I have a cup of tea?" - "If you're in possession of a cup of tea, then you may indeed have it"
"Please may I have a cup of tea?" - "Yes, I give you permission"
"Can you make me a cup of tea?" - "Indeed, I am more than capable, let me know if you ever actually want one"

The only way to ask for a cup of tea would be to demand it: "Make me a cup of tea!"
But even then, they'll make you a cup of tea and not actually bring it to you, because you only asked them to make it, not serve it. You also didn't specify when you want it, so they might not make it until next week.

"Make me a cup of tea immediately. As soon as it is ready to serve, serve it to me."
... "I can't make you a cup of tea, you are human, humans cannot be made into cups of tea."

Can we just agree that if it's painfully obvious what someone is requesting, we will not be giant pedantic pains in the ass?

Having to re-wind the BBC Breakfast weather forecast this morning. TWICE!

So distracted by Carol Kirkwood in that dress that I couldn't make any sense of the actual forecast the first two times I attempted to watch/listen to it...

Your main headlights don't get turned off when you need to indicate do they? So why DRLs?

Yes totally agree, fog light on turn is pointless waste of time.
Generally because DRLs, are being used in the Day, and in some cars they are all packaged together in the same unit as the indicator and so weak in comparison to the brightness of the DRL that you can't see it properly. At night, the DRL should be off and the problem isn't so bad.

I do have fog light on turn on my car though. Not sure what it does for me, but I don't know how to turn it off, though I do know how to turn off the DRLs.

Both our cars have lights that come on in the direction you're turning - but they don't use the fog lights, they're separate bulbs in the headlight unit. They actually are very useful at low speed manoeuvring and tight bends at night, but I can imagine that foglights would be too low down to make as much difference (the kerb probably blocks all the light?)

Before I knew about the foglight/turning light thing, I kept thinking "wow there are a lot of cars with malfunctioning foglights!"
It took about a year before it finally clicked what was happening biggrin

My Golf Mk7 TDi GT has these "turning lights" and very useful they are too when manoeuvring in the dark at low speed. They are in the bumper down near the fog lights but are completely separate.
