god dammit! I just came on here to post that - and the fact that it is, apparently, a perfectly acceptable verb.

The PDF viewer tool/feature in Chrome, with the appearing and disappearing a.k.a. Really fking Annoying (TM) controls.

I fired up Edge in the end. It's very quick. Give it an AdBlock extension and I'll be back, MS!

I'm developing a sixth sense for Windows 10.

Last night, I got into bed then suddenly thought... 'I've got the makings of an email in my head, I'll just pop down and dump my thoughts into Notepad, then will review and send in the morning'.

So downstairs I went and duly did that. Left the Notepad file open in the middle of the screen so it'd be the first thing I saw next morning.

Got half way up the stairs and thought... 'D'ya know what, I'm just going back and save that file, because if I don't, I'll come back to a restarted computer tomorrow morning, because of those bloody updates'.

So back down I went to save the file.

Sure enough, this morning the machine was back at the login screen!
Compulsory automatic updates is one reason I'm not "upgrading" to 10 on my Windows machines. - I've already seen the problems it causes by insisting on installing the wrong drivers etc.

I absolutely hate the whole Windows Update "service". In fact, it's been down / not working on every single Windows Vista and 7 PC I've worked on in the last week or so! Windows 8.1 updates are still working but taking forever, with only Windows 10 updates working at normal speed.

Oh, and Secure Boot. - Another waste of time that's only good for being a ballache when you want to boot from USB etc.

Virgin Media, for arbitrarily moving the channels around again, and getting rid of Dave +1, so that I miss the early evening Top Gear repeats.

I hate that too, but saying "Mea Culpa" instead always sounds a bit Boris Johnson.

Indeed. "My mistake".

"My bad" is yet more stupid unintelligent American rubbish adopted by gullible teenagers who watch too much crap American TV.

I'll stick my head above the parapet here: people who keep commenting on a new thread, despite being told there is already a thread running for that topic.

The neighbour's kids playing football in the next door garden when I have the window open and am trying to work.

I've got nothing against them or anything, and it's good that they're getting some fresh air in this lovely weather, it's just the infrasonic thump each time the ball is kicked really travels (just like the bass does with music) and goes through me. I may have to close the window again.

The other half cleans floors, shoes, anything but the kitchen work surfaces with the kitchen cloth. Disgusting, it drives me nuts.

Very bright and poorly aimed external lighting. Particularly in villages like mine that doesn't street lighting.

DELETED: Comment made by a member who's account has been deleted.
I was born old and grumpy.....it's been remarked upon before.

Gullible people using words and phrases they've picked up on crap American TV shows (or any TV shows) generally shows them up to be fools, and I don't suffer fools gladly I'm afraid.

Anecdotally, I find it is people in my age group who are the worst offenders.

I will confess, I find about 70% of people I meet who are in my age group to be utterly vacuous and irritating. Whilst I have friends in that age group who are not like that, I have always got on well with people much older than me, and have many friends of that ilk.

At 17 when my then classmates were all talking about acting like boy racers, I was banging on about improving driving skills, driving safely (not slowly!) and buying "old man's" cars. When my mates had Corsas and Saxos, I was driving to school in a Mondeo! Which was mocked, but guess who got asked to drive on any long road trips we did....which suited me since the driving skills (or lack of them) of the Saxo and Corsa mob scared me.

I'm generalising....a few lads in my year were decent people, very good drivers and had decent cars (given that we were only 17) but the majority of people I was at school with in sixth form were tits, in life and behind the wheel, it has to be said.
