Virgin Media, for arbitrarily moving the channels around again, and getting rid of Dave +1, so that I miss the early evening Top Gear repeats.
They've moved Dave +1 right up the EPG(?), it's something like 255 now I think. I don't watch enough TV to be bothered but what does annoy me is that I can't have a favorite's set of channels. Or if you do it's not bleeding obvious, no favorite's list should be in a submenu!

85, I think, but still annoyingly far away. As these channels move around from time to time, I don't understand why there can't be a general rearrangement and put the the "Plus 1" channel on the next channel up. Or maybe a new Freeview box could have a "+1" button that knows which alternate channel to go to. Wouldn't help with "5+24" though.

For someone so young, you're a real miserable bd.

I know that's what you're aiming for, but lighten up a bit, that can't be good for you!
I was born old and grumpy.....it's been remarked upon before.

Gullible people using words and phrases they've picked up on crap American TV shows (or any TV shows) generally shows them up to be fools, and I don't suffer fools gladly I'm afraid.

Anecdotally, I find it is people in my age group who are the worst offenders.

I will confess, I find about 70% of people I meet who are in my age group to be utterly vacuous and irritating. Whilst I have friends in that age group who are not like that, I have always got on well with people much older than me, and have many friends of that ilk.

At 17 when my then classmates were all talking about acting like boy racers, I was banging on about improving driving skills, driving safely (not slowly!) and buying "old man's" cars. When my mates had Corsas and Saxos, I was driving to school in a Mondeo! Which was mocked, but guess who got asked to drive on any long road trips we did....which suited me since the driving skills (or lack of them) of the Saxo and Corsa mob scared me.

I'm generalising....a few lads in my year were decent people, very good drivers and had decent cars (given that we were only 17) but the majority of people I was at school with in sixth form were tits, in life and behind the wheel, it has to be said.
The Walt thread is over there --->

Also, nothing gullible about picking up idiosyncrasies or dialect from elsewhere and it really, really doesn't make people stupid. You would be the stupid one to make that assumption.

I get annoyed now with people feigning ignorance at current trends to the extent that they in fact use the current "trendy" word for whatever it is they are trying not to know anything about.

Examples - people who say "interweb" "Twitbook" "Poke-what?" and "Faceache" etc etc. Along with "Insta-whack" "Snap-book" and so forth.

You know what I mean. I know what you are trying to say, but you are saying it in a what that makes you look like a bellend. if you don't understand it, or choose not to use it, I won't judge you, but I will judge you for actively trying to pretend not to care.

Indeed. But, even more so, the fact that they are being superior and condescending by feigning ignorance and implying that you are in some way lesser than them.

I find it particularly ironic that here we are on an internet forum, and these people are denigrating others for using another internet forum (Twitter and/or Facebook). As you say, if they don't want to use them then that's fine. But putting others down for using them is not fine.

Plus, it's like saying "I watched a television programme once and didn't like it, so therefore television is rubbish and anyone who watches television is a moron".

The wker who didn't bother to tie the sheet of 16mm chip board on to the back of their pick up transit allowing it to blow off the back...into the path of the A4 convertible who blew it into several large chunks, most of which headed into the side an F type, the lower front valance and bumper of my car and the windscreen of the car behind.

^This and the whole portmanteau thing at the moment grinds my teeth..

Brexit, Grexit, Glitterati, Brangelina, Spoodle, bromance, chuggers....ugh. Even the word Portmanteau grates!
See, I quite look a good portmanteau, though all your examples are indeed terrible. But the good ones are usually the ones I make up myself, at least, I like to think so.

Don't worry, I share your pain. They don't close properly after opening, thus I also have to finsh the box in one sitting.

Trout Unicycle Kidderminster.

Please hand in your leatherman, leatherman holster, the Motorola walkie-talkie (even though you bought it yourself) and all of your hi-vis tabards to the Muster Point located in the Command Gazebo near the Rapid* Deployment Vehicle Unit.
