L Plates. You can easily pick up a set of magnetic ones for about 50p, yet a lot of people still use stick on ones that are difficult to remove, so you see solo drivers with the plates still on. Why? Just why?
For as long as I can remember (and I can remember a long time), if you see L-plates on a private car, as opposed to a driving school car, it has meant "someone in this family is learning to drive". smile

I also remember being very miffed with my miserly thrifty mum that she wouldn't let me ceremoniously cut up my L-plates when I passed my test, on the grounds that my sister would be learning to drive in a couple of years and she'd need them. But I digress.

Seeing L plates stuck on with parcel tape or gaffers tape.. WHY!!! You occasionally see a car with the remains of parcel tape stuck to the paint because they can't get it off!!

Mine were magnetic, stick them to a cabinet in the garage. Still have all the dead bugs and blood on them lick

My mum left them on when I was learning to drive in her 3.0 Mk 1 Granada, so people would stay clear of her,as she wasnt that confident in driving it(I,on the other hand, scared the living st out of my dad driving it quite fast smile)

Got held up by four of them yesterday.
It's harvest time. Now, I don't know how much driving I have done this month, but it's way more than you.

A short while ago I posted about being annoyed by the Air Races at Popham Airfield. I'd have them back any day.

Anyone else having to put up with the incessant droning from the paramotors? At least the planes came and went quickly.

It's a lovely evening. I'd like to sit outside with a glass of wine, but instead am inside with the doors and windows shut because you can't actually have a conversation outside this evening.

Before anyone takes umbrage, offence, or otherwise decides to call me out on being a grumpy cow:
a) Yes, I'm aware it's churlish
2) No, I won't do anything about it because
iii) Other people are entitled to their enjoyment. But
4) It doesn't stop me being annoyed about it.
Are you my neighbour? Those bloody things drove me frigging crazy for the week or so that they were constantly aimlessly circling Overton. I actually called the airfield to complain and they said that they were bloody sick of them too. Apparently it was the paraglider (or whatever they were) world championships at Popham.

Other people are entitled to their enjoyment but not at everyone else expense.

Just when we got rid of them Carfest started, (which I love), but I assume given this is PH you must do too... although the music this year wasn't as good as last year.
I may well be ;-)

Don't have a problem with Carfest, I'm actually about a mile as the crow flies, but there's a big hill between us and it, so the noise actually isn't too intrusive, particularly if the wind is blowing in the right direction as it was on Sat & Sun. I was close to calling Popham in the week, but apparently someone local called the CarFest organisers to request they complain to Popham about the noise from the paramotors. The irony was somewhat lost on said local.

When you're at your computer, just about to take a drink and the tilt function on your chair unlocks by itself and you fall backwards a few inches spilling your drink.

Very annoying.

That stupid piece of paper folded over the packet of pills in every bloody packet. I always open it at that end. Always. Nobody reads them, nobody cares. I wish all the side effects to fall upon the person who put it there.

The fact that 10 million people tune in to watch a witch and a baker criticise the thickness of icing in that yearly pile of dogsh!t known as The Great British Bake Off!

We have the technology to film and broadcast amazing things, intelligent programmes which are thought provoking and inflame the imagination. Instead the preference is a bunch of divs looking round in anticipation that their gingerbread men may not be as good as someone else's.

Is Mary Berry even human? She reminds me of that creature from X-Files, remember? The one who wakes up every 30 years to eat people's livers. Only she wakes up every 12 months to eat people's cakes, slag them off and then go back to her nest in the broom cupboard with Ed the Duck!

Try putting a magnetic one on the back of a Fiesta. The rear is glass, plastic or composite. The it that is steel is small and not bit is big enough / flat enough for an L Plate. We lost loads.

Friends complaining and petitioning about the proposed building of some new starter homes around this area because it's somewhat close to a nature reserve/park. I looked at the plans online, and I've drove past the land they're planning on building on, it's a deserted piece of grassland, sat inbetween a large industrial estate, and a dual carriageway. The nature reserve isn't even near where the houses are being built, and there's already a golf course twice the size of it on the other side of the reserve. Most of them are lefties as well, so when not complaining about this, they'll be complaining about how scandalous it is that many young people can't afford to buy their own home anymore, well they won't be able to if developers can't build any starter homes due to NIMBYism st like this.
