dhead friends of mine who call me when I'm in the middle of doing something. Nothing really wrong with that in itself as I just reject the call and then call back as soon as I'm free, usually within five minutes. However, when I call them back, they don't fking answer and don't call me back at any point for the rest of the evening. What the fk were they phoning for in the first place and why was it that it was only in that short window of about a minute that they were able to speak? I think they just got the hump because I rejected their call initially!

People who take food from a spoon in two goes, i.e. a shallow rake-off of the top half, followed by another one to clear the spoon.

Was just waiting in the café by my office for a takeaway bacon sarnie and was treated to that^ delight by a heifer scoffing her porridge.

Cars/buses/trains being described as 'zero emission'.

No they fking aren't - they just don't emit anything at the 'point of use' but the energy they use needs to be generated SOMEWHERE, and in the case of most countries that will be by coal or gas power stations.

Thanks to the inefficiency of then having to transmit the power across the country, via several step up/step down transformers, then either use it to charge batteries ( with about 95% of the energy subsequently being available for use ) or make hydrogen ( where at best a mere 60% of the input energy can then be used ) they can end up creating more emissions than an ic vehicle frown

And that is before you consider the environmental impact of mining the stuff used in their battery's construction frown
But, that is still considerably cleaner than the process of extracting oil, refining it into fuel, and then transporting that oil in tankers all across the globe in big ships (quite efficient) before then transporting it in other big tanker lorries to fuel stations to be filled up, all those tankers emitting lots of emissions, and then burning the fuel to create more emissions.

(I rather like the "Poo" bus they demonstrated in Reading recently and, I believe, Bristol has one as well?)

That's what "zero emissions" means in the context of motor vehicles though - zero emissions at point of use.

Yes, of course they have an environmental impact, but it is (as you say) at the point of energy production and a power station can be sited away from population centres and have much bigger and more efficient filters than would be possible to cart around in a vehicle.

I think you are confusing "zero emissions" with "zero environmental impact" and they are not the same.

The term "small minded". Another stupid Americanism catching on over here. It's narrow minded you idiots.
Is it? I thought 'small minded' described someone with no great aspirations and 'narrow minded' described someone who had a limited POV.

This is also my understanding.

I've written this before but I think it's worth writing about again i.e. having any unfortunate involvement with any sort of government run organisation e.g. local council, NHS etc. It's like fking pulling teeth! Nobody takes ownership/responsibility for fking anything and even the most simple, routine procedures can take months to sort out! What the fk are these people paid for..?

They are paid to get as much tax money as possible and to justify their jobs for as long as possible, would be the belief I have. If you are successful in your scheme to save lots of money, then you won't have a job because that will then be a saving.

The press using "Talented young footballer" for more or less every headline about a young person dying. The latest "Talented young footballer" to be killed was in fact a 22 year old Recruitment consultant.

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/croydon-hallo...

Are we expected to care more about a death because they played football as a youngster, like millions of other people?

+1. The NHS is the most monumentally inefficient organisation I've ever had the misfortune to deal with.

If that was the case, you'd only make the mistake on the first spoonful, right? She was just a scummy scoffer.

MPs and the whole taxpayer funded second home st - here's news for you: lot's of people work away from home, sometimes for months at a time, and they get put in the local Travel Lodge or B&B so why the fk does the taxpayer end up buying MPs a complete fking house AND pay all the sodding bills for it ?

Never mind all the dodgy dealing which the grasping s then get up to like claiming one place as a second home but their spouse ( also an MP ) claims as his first so they get a double helping at the trough, or claiming for a second home when you live a mere 17 miles from the fking Houses of Parliament furious

Never mind that minor details like that. People waxing lyrical about how great Kodi is yet my experience is quite the opposite as I don't enjoy wasting my time sifting through files that are not what they say they are and when I do find one that is what it says it is I discover that it's been recorded with a potato. Potato resolution is just about usable if you intend to watch it on the tiny screen of your phone but useless on a PC screen or God forbid, a full size telly screen. grumpy

Seeing something you want on Ebay which is small and could easily be posted from its vendor 250 miles away, only to read 'Pick up only'.

yes Poor behaviour. Further, only a fool or someone on opiates would return to boiling hot porridge without adding more cold milk.
