Incredible!

I am fed up of hearing this word over and over again. People use it instead of 'very' now. I'm incredibly tired, for instance. Listen to the news and you will hear it several times.

Why do people need to cheapen words like this? What would they do if something very unusual and difficult to believe really happened?
It's the media's attempt to over-dramatise everything - e.g. nothing ever simply falls these days, it 'plummets'

"plummets/soars", but zoom out a touch and "barely moved" is more accurate.

The new touch screen Mcdonalds.

It's the middle of Winter, I don't want half a pot of ice in my drink, is there an option for no ice? Can I pay cash?
No. Join the queue then.

In the same vein and at the risk of resurrecting the annoying jargon thread (can't remember the thread title), "Going forwards...". Really? Here was me thinking a conversation about going backwards would be really useful for this organisation...

Well paying cash these days is silly.

The screens will be perfectly fine for 90%+ of transactions that they go through and you have the choice of going through the rigmarole of interacting with a human.
I don't see the problem.

I'll add one.

Businesses that don't accept card payment.

In this day and age, every single business should be able to manage, what's more annoying is the 50p charge of not over £x brigade.

Why not just get a percentage based terminal?

Depends entirely on the amounts, type of product and exposure to fraudulent charge backs. In the same way we would never use ebay.

Even the humans cant get it right, a significant minority of the time I order a coke without ice,I still get it frown
They are not happy when I hand it back to be fixed. And then ordering food that isnt exactly how they do it, thats even worse.

May I respectfully suggest that you avoid that purveyor of cack and buy some decent food? Or make yourself some wholesome sandwiches to tide you over until you can have a proper meal.

I guess I mean in retail rather than mail order type affairs as most of those that deal with consumers will accept cards.

Then I agree. Millions go to the card companies because people cannot/will not carry cash. They would if the retailer offered binary pricing.
