Things that annoy you beyond reason...(Vol 4)

Then continue to blindly indicate with no thought as to how useful it might be to other road users; most won't notice, more won't care and only a few will think you're a clueless cocktrumpet.
As stated earlier, I'd rather all of that than arrogantly assume I'm infallible and cause an accident.zarjaz1991 said:

Of course, almost all of the time it would be appropriate to indicate, unless it was absolutely completely superfluous like in this instance. The point is that it should be a conscious decision based on situational awareness, rather than something you just do without any thought to what is around you. The answer as to why you are indicating should be "because that car, that car, and that car need to know, and I can see those pedestrians over there, and that junction there means someone may come up to it whilst I am turning and need to see my indicators" rather than "because my driving instructor told me to". That's the key difference. Incidentally, and just to add to my original post, I'd been following this driver for a while and they really were driving fairly poorly. Indicating left on a junction where you can only turn left was the crowning turd on the cow pat really.

Yes, I get that. How do I then ensure my observation skills are infallible and I haven't missed someone, who then misinterprets what I'm about to do and gets run over / hit, either by me or someone else? Might as well indicate anyway, just in case. You seem to be suggesting that "indicating anyway" also incorporates "don't bother being aware of your surroundings". I'm an observant driver and try to be aware of what's going on around me *at all times*. I don't need an additional action, such as indicating, to trigger that behaviour. However, I cannot guarantee that I've noticed every road user everywhere in the vicinity, so my driving is adapted to account for this. ie - I indicate anyway, just in case there's someone there that I didn't spot.

I'm sure any pedestrians nearby had studied the full road layout, including directional and instructional road signage, white line markings and other relevant material, before walking down the road, in case someone didn't indicate and they thought it was safe to walk across the road.zarjaz1991 said:

Good! Sadly, you are not typical there though. zarjaz1991 said:

In this instance; rural road, no pavement, not a place where a pedestrian would cross. No pedestrians around. Anyway, we're nit-picking now. The driver annoyed me beyond reason and I mentioned it on this thread. Job done. Let's move on.

Don't get me started on "traffic news" bulletins.
"There's a queue on the A30 at the Jolly Farmer roundabout."
"Really? How interesting. But of no use to anyone who hasn't lived in the area for many decades, because it's currently the "American Discount Golf Store" roundabout, and before that it was "The mongolian" roundabout."<snip>
This, soo much. For me it's the M8, "traffic is slow between Plantation and St James"!! Why cant they say the junction numbers? None of the junctions are named on signs, so you have no idea what junction is called what!Don't get me started on "traffic news" bulletins.

AFAIK there is no tea/banana/other fruit plantation in Glasgow(probably a few cannabis ones though!)

Our local news bulletin in West Yorks goes something like this :AFAIK there is no tea/banana/other fruit plantation in Glasgow(probably a few cannabis ones though!)
"The M1 is busy between Durkar and Flush Dyke due to an accident between Carr Gate and Lofthouse. The M62 is also slow moving at Chain Bar and Ingram Road is very busy to the gyratory"
It amuses me how they still call the A643 Ingram Road when it hasn't been that for at least 20 years or more since the tunnel was built and replaced the old road. Ingram Road now is a little residential back street. I didn't have a clue what Durkar and Flush Dyke were until I looked them up. Lofthouse isn't particularly well known locally as being the M1/M62 intersection either.

It's the same for the M90. Traffic report names the junctions yet none of the junction boards have names. AFAIK there is no tea/banana/other fruit plantation in Glasgow(probably a few cannabis ones though!)

The Craigiehall estate near Govan was purchased in 1783 by the merchant and cashier of the Glasgow Arms Bank, John Robertson. Robertson and his brothers owned sugar and cotton plantations in the West Indies, and he may have changed the name of the estate to Plantation in recognition of his business interests (and the primary source of his fortune). The estate was sold to John Mair (d 1824) of John Mair & Co in 1793, and he rebuilt the old house there, adding wings, offices, walls and gates and laying out gardens in the grounds. The estate was acquired in 1829 by the dyer William MacLean (d 1867).
Plantation was laid out for tenement houses in the 1870s and Maclean, Plantation, Mair and Craigiehall Streets refer to the history of the old estate. The house was in a state of disrepair by 1878 and it was finally demolished c 1900.

OK, it doesn't look great, but the biggest problem is navigation, from thread to thread and sub-forum to sub-forum.
It's almost as if it was purposely designed to make it so dreadful to use that it will stop people using it.
bds!
I must be doing it wrong but then I seem to stick to "my stuff". I browse more from the iPad!! It's almost as if it was purposely designed to make it so dreadful to use that it will stop people using it.

Channel 5, for making documentaries about benefits people which are compulsive viewing, but make me shout at the telly.
The one we watched last night featured a large northern lady who had never worked a day in her life because of her "agoraphobia". Luckily, this condition didn't stop her going to the bingo once a week.
