It would be my gambling money, a day at the races each month, safe in the knowledge that i could lose it all and not feel bad about it.

As i type that it reads really quite selfish, so any winnings would go to a charity of some form, air ambulance or something.

Me, I got a interest only mortgage and got myself a bolt hole in the Alps, so I can ski in winter and sit outside drinking wine in the summer but everyone is different.
Let's hear some more about that then, I like the sound of that smile
Quite simple really, was out there and walked past an estate agents. Seen an apartment for sale at 140000 euro that fits the family. With the euro being weak and French mortgages being cheap, it worked out at less than £200 pm on a interest only mortgage. ( I did have to put down 25%) No need to pay it off as it will be sold in 15 years or pension could cover it.
Turns out that apart from family breaks my wife and I were thinking the same, we both seen Girly / Lads weekends as a possibility as well. And easy jets flight as cheap as chips.
Not wanting to sound like a tt but £250 is not a lot of money per month and I don't see much in this tread that I would prefer to do with it, the race car must be more than £250 per month?

I'd try and relax a little, anyone who's life is so controlled and regimented that they know they have a excact amount spare each and every month needs to loosen up a bit.

you sir are a prize bell end. I was using the 250 figure as that is what I am spending per month on my chosen "hobby" not because I am so controlled that's all I have.
Do you honestly think someone would do that if they were in a position were a small bill would push them over the edge & last time I checked skiing & lads weekends away is relaxing.

To start with, put it in a separate account. Then the whole account becomes your fun fund.

Personally I would use some of it to dabble on the markets and some for weekends away.

+1 for the bike thing

£250/month will be plenty for a nice bike and a few trackdays per year.

Say your Mortgage is sorted, I mean you have £250 pm to do with what ever you want, it doesn't affect any of the families options it is your "hobby" money, most smokers literly burn that a month & no I didn't want to start smoking.
I am interested in what others would do with it?
Me, I got a interest only mortgage and got my self a bolt hole in the Alps, so I can ski in winter and sit outside drinking wine in the summer but everyone is different, so what's your ideas & no I don't want to lease a Golf R.
£250pm is enough for somewhere in the Alps? How do you afford the flights out there on top? confused
