I've just looked it up and it seems it's more common in Northern England. I'm not northern and I have never lived further north than Shropshire (in the UK) so I'm not sure why I used it there.

It's the only time I can recall using it, now I think about it.

I'm rambling now.

Lord Janner. I'm not convinced he's dead already.

Maybe we should let "mither" wither?

Didn't realise that we had any footballers on PH.

Surely being powerfully built they're rugby players?

Christ alive, there are some precious little poppets on here, aren't there! Lighten up, it's a bit of fun. All that hand wringing is bad for your health!

My vote : Billy Connolly, awesome bloke and I'll be devastated if I am right...

I do not see this thread, not it's predecessors, as wishing death upon people, nor hurt upon their families. I see it merely as speculation on who is going to snuff it. However, I know full well that the keys to the lock are jangling, the mods are probably waiting to see a few more toys flying out of prams first before they lock it up good like.
Before that happens, I am going to claim Rolf Harris. I do not in any way wish that he would die, as I think that it is not good form to do so. I am actually quite a liberal these days. I am however speculating that he isn't the most popular person in the world, he is currently in stir, quite old and therefore likely with his stress levels and the likelihood of getting shivved exceeds that of other people who are A. Not in prison for being found guilty of being a nonce and B. Are much younger and in better health.

Bruce Forsyth? Nah, he has a cryogenic freezer. He is going to outlive me and I am 33.

I would be very surprised if it were to get locked. Just because some precious poppets think something is distasteful, doesn't mean it should be censored. To do so would be very poor form indeed.

Good call...

Whether anybody likes the topic, let alone agrees with it, I thought this country celebrated free speech ?

I agree, it seems as though some people by their comments are trying to get the mods to close it--- if you don't like it then don't read it.

Bad taste? Probably. But the Sean Connery thread is usually the first place I find out about a celebrity death when someone makes a joke about it. Complainants should cross post there too, if they feel strongly.

However, dark humour is part of many (most?) people's makeup (see the Cyanide and Happiness thread for some very dark humour).

That's cheating, he's dead already. He always made me laugh though, loved his films. RIP

I reckon he should be allowed to have Norman Wisdom on his 2016 list. He won't win but that's not my problem!
