I spent a few hundred quid getting the aircon working on my Rex a couple of years back. Worked beautifully for a week before the condenser blew its core out irked

A new one's three hundred quid. Plus shipping from the U.S. grumpy

Yep, it's been a hot place to be since...

The gas left the AC on my Fiesta years ago.

Never bothered to fix it.

I only got it as part of the "climate" pack,as I wanted the quick clear windscreen.

Fiat has all the air con a man can want.

It seems to be an AC kinda week. For the past three annual services on the Aston the dealership have kindly noted that there is a lot of staining around the compressor and condenser along with supplying an eye-watering quote to replace, well, everything.

Each time I remind them that they did some work on it a few years ago which included a regas and oil in a satisfyingly successful attempt to quieten a marginally noisy compressor, so the staining is most likely the residue from that job.

There has been no drop off in AC performance up until this winter whereby it has taken just a smidge longer to defog the front screen when first switched on. Just two days ago I used one of those DIY canisters to to give the system a top-up. The pressure was still within tolerances, although towards the lower end of the scale. Five minutes of squeezing the trigger on the squirty gun thing and it's all lovely again.
I expect the dealership will be disappointed (again) when the car has its service and MOT next month.

I've bought a book for when I'm on downtime on my road trip.

Touchwood.....Duncan Hamilton's autobiography.

On the cover,a quote from Chris Evans..."may be the best book ever"

If it's rubbish,who do I sue ?....readitjudgeblah

You can sue me, I think it's a great book, it it the original or the slightly updated one?

(Don't bother suing if you actually expect to get any money, I have none)

Sorry I was being even more stupid than usual, it's obviously the update if it has a quote from Chris Evans.

I'll add you to the litigation list.

I'm sure it's good ,I rarely finish a book anyway.

I read a lot of motorsport biographies,mostly on holiday...biggrin

It was the only book in that section of Waterstones worth buying, didn't fancy a Lewis Hamilton story.

Ah, no. The only exposure I have is what you have shared with us in the past on here and (to my chagrin) a solitary episode of QI where they debunked the myth about hats and supposedly the head being the part that loses heat the quickest.
Strange what sinks in.
It is odd about what sticks in one's head, you not wrong there!

This temp, 22-24 is perfect, any more than that and I start really suffering. Sleeveless tops help a lot but they also make me look like a chav, which is a bit annoying.

Have you read Alex Zanardi's bio? It's worth a read.

I'm reading Catch 22 again, and I'm determined to finish it this time. Almost everyone I've talked to that has finished it said it's worth it, but I always get halfway through and give up :P

I definitely should read that.

I'm going to Brands Hatch, again, tomorrow and the book shop seems to have gone.

But

The Chaters website seems to say it's still there, slightly confused, maybe it was just not open last time with covers over the windows or something.

Very good, also read Rapid Response, I know it is about accidents but a good read nevertheless, written by Dr. Stephen Olvey with the forward written by Alex Zanardi

That looks great actually, thanks for that. I'll go and get it later in the week I think.
