Don't worry, jt. Something serious and sad was bound to happen on the thread eventually. Yes, even on the Trivial thread.
The trivial and serious side by side would have tickled no end him, I'm sure.
Agreed DC, the random juxtaposition of utter bs and the frustrations and trials and tribulations of real life, and the camarardarie and support offered in TT can be remarkable. His posts were a wholehearted embrace of both; always The trivial and serious side by side would have tickled no end him, I'm sure.

Enthusiastically seconded. There are many valid criticisms of social media, but many of us on here know the connections we have made, real life friendships that have developed and help and advice aplenty given and received. I'm better for having encountered more than a few on here and grateful for such.
I don't visit here much nowadays but it seems to be the right place to recall just how much of a nice guy Russ was.
I only met him a handful of times but without mentioning his own trials and tribulations he would calmly listen, advise and help you feel so much better about everything that worried you. I cannot imagine anyone more selfless in helping others. The world is very much a poorer place today. Commiserations to his families and friends.
To borrow a comment a friend made when I lost my brother in law - See you soon but I hope you don't mind if it's not too soon.
RIP Russ

Spent some time reading my private messages from Russ. We shared a lot of life together.
His advice and support got me where I am now.
Theres so much I could say about how good a guy he was and how he genuinely cared about the wellbeing and happiness of all of us; but you all know that already.
Possibly the most genuinely selfless person I've ever known.
I'm not going to think of the huge hole he has left behind; but of the massive space he filled when he was here.
This weekend I'll be raising many a glass of Stag to Russell.

Drove a Stag yesterday.
What a disappointment.
It has been on my Must Drive List this many a long year. Foo.
Ponderous with feeble brakes about sums it up.
A strong contender for the Thinnest Steering Wheel Ever Award.
Yes, I appreciate it's 40 years old but the original Mini is even older and feels modern in comparison. Perhaps a big step in automobile design is the perfecting of the front engine/rear drive layout.

Only just read about Russ passing over in the other place, hard to take in really. No words, Dicky, as usual mate you have summed it up. Hoping Russ in now introducing Trivia in the other other place. RIP DMN
Thanks, Chim. It's really hit hard. But the folk who knew him well have pretty much all said he would have wanted us to carry on Trivialising. So we'd better start.
