Here's a true anecdote from the 80s.
I worked at a SAAB dealer then and the used car bloke that got all the stuff we didn't want to sell had a BMW 3.0 CSi,a CSL lookalike,offered to me and my mate for £300,with seized engine.
We declined but my mate bought his crusty Landis Beta coupe 1600.
The wings were held on by luck more than weld.
