Dear Mr Champers, may I call you Derek? Would you like a cup of tea? I'm really sorry to point this out old chap, but I do find your response rather abrupt, in fact, rather rude wouldn't you say?
(Etc, etc.)
Yours sincerely,
Bob 227bhp.

That's why I started with "That depends on what you mean really".
You're right, I apologise, my response was rather abrupt, even rude, sorry.

This thread just proves how different we all are. I would never have guessed that the fact I don't list my cars in my profile means I'm a dreaming wannabe, and my posts aren't worth reading!

Must take a flippin' age to read a thread if you have to vet all the posters that way before carrying on.
It's a form of currency on here. The cars you own dictate which level of car thread you are allowed to comment on.
And quite right too. Someone owning a pre facelift E60 without the integrated Bluetooth operated satnav shouldn't be allowed to have anything even remotely similar to an opinion on an E61 with soft close boot function. The .

I however am clearly able to comment on anything.

Wealth by association from people who arent wealthy, they're just trying to come across as such 'I know a good friend who's made millions....(but I dont actually know him, I know of him and he doesnt know who I am)

Same as upper class by implication. Just accept that you're in an ex council house and on 25k, there's no shame in any of it

The somehow bizarre expectation that someone will post a photo of their O/H's sisters mate with her bucket out. I assume for them to quietly wk and weep over.

And lastly, the ones who say 'just ignore it' or 'if you dont like it, move on' because that just allows (racist, mysogynistic, homophobic) bks to be continued to be spouted thinking that kind of attitude is OK. Sometimes people need their views challenging

Also the implication that earning 100k a year is the norm and they 'just get by on it.. not the fact that this is 1% of the earning population and pretty rare.

Also the whole implication to make money is 'just work hard' as in if you are not rich you haven't worked hard.

The levels of misery in these here parts.
And posters who write "these here parts".
The arguments in the F1 race threads that begin as soon as the winner crosses the line.

People misunderstanding original posts. Often in the legal section.

Someone posts:

I've owned my house for eight years. It is freehold and my mortgage provider has the deeds."

Someone replies:

"So you pay rent on a leasehold property. Why do you need to see the deeds on a house you rent?"

Completely misunderstanding and then others just read the misunderstood post and offer advice on that.

Then the OP comes on telling them to read the first post. They do, but still misunderstand.

People start getting shouty. Someone accuses the OP of telling lies or uses phrases like "we're not getting the full story here".

I don't mind the sausages, custard, director type comments if they are used sparingly. It might be confusing to a newcomer but they refer to some pretty fun threads that have been on here over the years. It's like a mini cultural history inside PH. A bit like in the real world outside the internet where someone might say "Don't mention the war" "We're the Sweeney son, and we haven't had any dinner." Or whatever. When not overused they convey a sense of history and belonging to the forums.

Something I have noticed is that PH can make me aggressive on more polite forums.

There is one I go on about the Discovery Sport. A guy was whinging about something where I got some deserved flak for tearing into the poster. On PH, it wouldn't have been noticed.

In the plus side, last year I was on a single brand forum where there was a particularly nasty bully. He'd been really horrible to a lot of people and turned on me. Thankfully PH gave me the keyboard warrior experience to really put him on his arse. I went for his grammar, spelling, thought processes, the lot. He reported me to the mods when I started calling him "Princess" and others joined in.

The mod I dealt with told me privately he found my responses very funny. He just deleted the whole thread.

I really shouldn't have been a keyboard warrior, it's not big and not funny.

On a really positive note. I briefly mentioned in a post that I had been the victim of a brutal street attack. Without prompting, a very well respected poster here got in touch with me and talked me through the PTSD I am suffering, assuring me that I wasn't going off my rocker.

For all the fighting and banter there are some really decent, kind people on here behind the user names cock waving and bluster.

On the whole PH is a great place.

Now off to Shorpe the lot of you!

Really? Who gives a fcensoredk whether the guy also sells Dyson nozzles on ebay and if he's notified HMRC or not? Fair play to him for responding though.

Links or silly numerical entries that have a hundred characters without spaces, so the auto-justification of pages falls down.

Except, from they way you've phrased that within the context, you clearly DO feel there is some element of shame to it, and thus, worthy of sneer.

Probably already covered, but people who put a one line smart arse comment, of no real relevance other than to make themselves feel big and clever and funny, with zero content pertaining to the subject, then round it off with a wink as if they are all knowing and if I told you I'd have to kill you overtones.
