It's ok, I'll be round next week to put the pair of you in the sack. Do you want hitting with the heavy stick or the one with nails in?

Same as upper class by implication. Just accept that you're in an ex council house and on 25k, there's no shame in any of it
Except, from they way you've phrased that within the context, you clearly DO feel there is some element of shame to it, and thus, worthy of sneer.
Depends where you're admiring the view from really. Mine's from the ex council house I live in.

What's driving it for me, the fakery and trying to come off as something you're not. He talks of San Francisco, he's from Hunters Bar.

massively entrenched views.
off net.
'It is the nature of a belief system to discount or indict any evidence that threatens it. Even a feeble argument that supports the belief will find favor over a powerful argument that challenges it. Ultimately the believer rejects, irrespective of its merit, any source that does not already validate the belief,'

This is an entirely personal one.

Last year, possibly longer

My "opinion" on a thread was not welcome by a Moderator (1) and was subsequently banned from posting on that thread. However that thread (2) is still running and I'd quite like to add to it. Since it's evolved a bit since I posted.

So

(1) I want Moderators to be more upfront about WHY they've edited/removed posts and for them to PM the poster concerned their reasons. On a related note, I want moderators to have their status written in their profile
(2) Bans from threads should have expiry times. A week, A month, 2 months at most. Particularly when threads go over 100 pages.

How on earth do you get banned from a thread?

I've been here for years and never been banned from a thread. You must have been a complete arse.. Of course you're not going to get let back on it or have "the moderators status written in their profile" for that matter. hehe

That was kind of my point. laugh

Wasn't aggressive, didn't slate other forum members. Did have a substantially different POV though. Slightly devils advocate, wink but nothing illegal or suchlike. Didn't break any Forum rules that I was aware of either. Many people disagreed with the POV which is fine. But was told that Devils advocate is not allowed laugh (It seemingly offended the mod personally)

And why not let the Moderators/Admins be known to all? Every other Forum out there, the user name is underlined or Red or whatever. Wouldn't take much surely?

Replied to this earlier, seems to have disappeared, maybe moderated into the bin.

If the thread goes to volume 2 you'll get back in automatically. Principle stated is that is the second chance, and if misbehave on that thread then out for good. On the other hand that rule isn't adhered to as see the usual suspects back time and again on various volumes, and on other parallel threads behaving the same way.

Not sure about moderators being identified. Sometimes it ends up with them expecting, and on some forums, being given a level of deference that jars.

Again, conversely, there's a good argument for them to identify themselves as mods, but only when their moderator hat is on and powers being applied, otherwise they're to be treated as just another punter.

The way some idiot starts a thread which then doesn't go the way they wanted, so off they run to the Mods who conveniently make the entire thread disappear with no explanation or apology, pathetic really.

The way a thread can turn into a complete mess of petty arguments with no importance or relevance what so ever.
Some of it is that petty, the thread isn't worth reading anymore. Some of the more witty banter is entertaining to read.
The petty bullst isn't what a forum is for. Pistonheads isn't the only forum full of it, must be a generation thing.
Witty banter, yes. Petty bullst, no.

I dislike that since the pay per post payments went down, I'm not making nearly as much money.

Which is the reason I didn't post as much in 2015.
Desperately tired and unoriginal cliches that get repeated by people again and again as though, this time, it will be funny, hur hur!

It really isn't.

And I'm surprised that no one has mentioned The Aintree Thread and its ilk!

Yes, some women who go out in public aren't supermodels - get over it!

All the passive aggressive 'Oooh, how dare she go out and have a fun time with her friends when she's not up to MY required standards, look at her, how can I wk over that?' type posts from sad sexually frustrated middle aged virgins.

That such utterly pathetic blokes exist is no surprise of course. What is a surprise is that the moderators, and indeed Haymarket, condone it. It does the forum as a whole no favours whatsoever.

Precisely. And the desperate pleading for pics every time a female is mentioned, as though they've never been allowed to actually look at a female. But in a quasi jokey way in the hope no one recognises how pathetic they really are.
