Lovely though that little blue box is (and it is a gorgeous blue!)

Their products (IMHO as a female) have become in the last 10 years, overpriced tat frown

OP, if it hasn't been said already, go to Hatton Garden in London (or whatever equivalent there is at a major city near you), find what you would like and haggle, hard! I bought a £7k ring for my wife in Hatton Garden for £3k. Clearly it was worth £3k but it started at £7k. Don't buy stuff in Tiffany, especially the stuff that everyone else is buying. Alternatively, go to your local indie jeweller (there are some on here....chaps?) and choose your own design. How cool would that be?!

Whilst I like the approach, dangerous if she wants to take it back and exchange it! (I know you can't with earrings)

Also, you do have to be careful with boxes. I bought my wife a lovely Cartier pen. Very stylish. She loved it.

However... When she first unwrapped it, there was a red leather box that looked perfect to contain a bracelet or even a necklace. From Cartier. Her hands trembled a little as she opened it.

Her eyes sparked - but just a little less - when she looked inside the box and found a pen.

Lesson learnt - underpromise and overdeliver.
