Winston Churchill. Even though the dates don't quite match, Churchill. The one & only you'd want to & would proud to be associated with. Churchill.

That's one of many Churchcill "quotes" that he never actually uttered

Oops, I was only a year old. Apologies! Closer than I thought to being a Majorite I was then.

Can you be absolutely sure of that? Do you know for certain he did not utter that whilst he was chatting to an RAF officer around the back of a Lincolnshire pub circa 1944?

I only mention it because it's a big one that even his own historical society says is a load of rubbish biggrin but like you say we don't know for sure everything he said or everyone he met. There are tonnes of Internet memes that's are just complete waddle. Here's the link to the society btw you might like the content http://www.winstonchurchill.org/resources/quotatio...

Harold Wilson but I had to look it up as there were 2 general elections in the year I was born and I wasn't sure what date he took over from Heath.

scratchchin It may have been Henry Pelham.

OP, why is this information important?

Edit: I know that when I was born, Britain was a part of Europe, because it was joined by a land bridge.
Then TVR came along and melted all the icecaps. biggrin

That was before UKIP.

I was born in 1988, the PM was Thatcher and I knew - go me! Although I think she left office a few years later - 1990? Then Major took over and won the 1992 election.

I know. But not because I know, but being from a mining village and hearing stories from my mum about how I was a baby when my dad and grandad were crossing the picket lines (both Notts miners).

From my knowledge of the history of the strikes, that makes it Maggie.
