I was not sure. So I looked it up and found out that, Anthony Eden resigned as Prime Minister on my birthday. The next day Harold Macmillan succeeds him and became Prime Minister.

I don't think Macmillan had a huge influence on me politically during my early years.

Harold Wilson. I did actually remember but needed to confirm. I was about four when Ted Heath got his turn.

Those really were the st old days. Wilson, Heath, Wilson, Callaghan. the country went to hell in a handbasket. I remember the electricity cuts due to striking workers, not much fun sat in the dark and cold.

Apparently one of the most effective Prime Ministers ever. i.e. made all the changes he wanted in the shortest possible time and without a huge majority. Ex military and allowed no nonsense. Remarkable.

Except that he had a majority of 146 which is, by any standard, pretty huge

Alex Douglas-Home, I don't remember him though.
The first I remember is Harold Wilson who came to power when I was about 11 months old then left when I was seven.

I thought it was Ted Heath. But I was wrong, by two months. Damn you, Harold Wilson grumpy

How do I go back and amend my poll vote, lol

John Major for me, not convinced he had a huge impact on my early life though, by the time I was 3 years old, Tony Blair was in and doing war crimes, now him I do remember!

I was born in the Seventies and they changed around quite a bit. Probably Heath I expect.

edit - Checked and it was Callaghan.

Macmillan for me, which I didn't know.

So many youngsters on here. Some of you totally missed the glory of Mrs Thatcher in full sail.

I'm so very very old these days.
