Harold Wilson here, which was my guess but I did Google it to make sure it was correct before posting here.

You are not the only one, but i can spell.

Just over two years to go and I get my pension.
Damn, forgot an "e". Can I blame it on my laptop keyboard? er, no, thought not....biggrin
Here in Germany I'll have to be 65 and 8 months to be able to retire, so 3 years and 10 months still to retirement yikes
I plan to go on working anyway, I won't be able to maintain my standard of living solely on my pension.

Wasn't sure. It could have been one of three but thought it was Harold McMillan and I was correct.

Apparently one of the most effective Prime Ministers ever. i.e. made all the changes he wanted in the shortest possible time and without a huge majority. Ex military and allowed no nonsense. Remarkable.
Except that he had a majority of 146 which is, by any standard, pretty huge
Is that right? I'll have to re-read the history of Prime Ministers web site. Must have remembered wrong... ahah Google says 145 seats.

I stand corrected. yes Thank you.

Would have hazarded a guess at Eden, but I'd have been wrong, it was Macmillan. Curious as to why it's Macmillan and not MacMillan, the capital seemingly having been dropped by his father.

Less Gaelic and more English?

You get that in lots of Gaelic names where the "O" or the "Mac/Mc" was dropped at some time in the family history.

Clement Attlee for me to,yes we are old judging by some of the replies. There was no NHS in 1947,my mum gave birth at home,my dad often said I cost him £20? that was a lot of money in those days.Would a GP and nurse attending a homebirth charge that in 47?

Just old enough to vote him and his party in, though I think the sentiment was to get Whitlam out.
