valentines day
Discussion
25 yrs in and never bow down to Feb 14th marketing , however , up before dawn to write a message in fresh snow on the back deck then left the lights on for her to see whilst the coffee was brewing this morning . Beautiful plus 3c weather and sunny so a ride out on the horses followed by a decent supper , life is good , she still loves me which is an achievement alone .

Who dared not to bother?
I wimped out and got a card for peace keeping purposes.
She didn't get me one and now I "made her feel bad" so we've had waterworks
Cannot win.
Hah! Neither of us bothered this year.I wimped out and got a card for peace keeping purposes.

(Actually I ordered something and it didn't arrive on time...)
But this is what I had to say on the matter a while back...

I don't bother with Valentines and she is aware of this, but I do randomly book us nights away on the few occasions per year that we don't have any kids
It just so happened that we didn't have the kids on Saturday so I took her to a lovely country pub in Gargrave for the night, and then we spent the day pootling around Skipton yesterday. In return she booked us into the local (to the pub) Indian on Saturday might and paid for the meal
Worked for us
